Do like I did: email the group and ask if you can down load the songs on their web site.
They all gave me permission (save the email giving you permission)....
And some of them even sent me Cd's free of charge...
(now that is singing for the Lord and not your checking account)

Well, yes. In Christianity we are supposed to follow the laws of the land as long as they don't conflict with worshipping or serving God.
Unless the Christian band has said their music is free to download, a Christian should honor their copyright.

As to your question, if something is against the law then it's a sin to do it unless the law contradicts God's law.

No, but it is illegal to do this and
if you do do this I hope you get
caught. It is not fair to do this to
the artists you will end up destroying
