Hell I think is more like a holding place, with great torment, It will one day be cast in to the lake of fire, to increase the torment, cause at that time a "holding place" will no longer be needed I know that don't make a lot of since but its my view.

Nycfunction,
I don't mean to disrespect anyone's theology, but these "places" are part of the distortion of Jesus' teachings. In the year 325 A.D. at the Council of Nicea, the fledgling movement known as "The Way", was kidnapped by the Roman Emperor Constantine. It was then that the religion we now know as Christianity was created. Most of the teachings of Jesus were lost. Many pagan beliefs were added, in order to make the new "Universal Church" more appealing to the citizens of Rome. Most of the existing manuscripts attributed to the apostles, were rewritten by men called "Correctors". The rest were destroyed. What they finally decreed to fit into the new "Faith", became what we now call the Bible. The concepts of Hell and the Lake of Fire, were borrowed from Greek mythology. Why else is it, that there is zero mention of these things in the Old Testament? If they existed, and God intended to send us there for being disobedient, don't you think He would have told Moses, or at least one of the prophets? If such a doctrine had been in existence, don't you think that the Jews would still be using it? It is time for us to get back to the teaching of Jesus. While on the Earth, He taught only the Gospel of the Kingdom. This is a message both simple, and elegant in it's ability to transform mankind. It is simply this: God, is the loving Father of all mankind. All men and women, are brothers and sisters. This makes us part of the Divine Family. When this knowledge is accepted with faith, it changes ones values and attitudes. The desire to do what is good and pleasing to God, becomes the center of one's life. The idea, that our Father, would demand the torture, and death of His perfect Son, in order to find room in His heart to forgive, is criminal slander against our Creator and Father. The Bible instructs us to forgive without measure, yet makes God so petty, that He must have blood to forgive us our mortal sins. Outrageous! I suggest that you study all you can find about the Council of Nicea. Your eyes will be opened, and you will come to know both God, and Jesus in a new, and more loving light. Peace be unto you....................

After telling that death and hell were cast into the lake of fire, the Revelator adds, "this is the second death." It here, to me, implies an utter destruction, for, death and hades cannot be subjects of suffering, and, therefore, in this instance the lake of fire cannot signify a place of punishment, or of misery. Their being cast into a lake of fire can only intimate their final destruction.

'Hell' and the 'Lake of Fire' are playing with words. They mean the same thing. The place of damnation is hell where the devil and all his agents are found. The place of torment for the children of the evil one, who rebelled against God and decided to work against Him.
Human beings who are created in the image and likeness of God have a 'will power' to choose between evil and goodness. those who chose evil are likely to be with the devil in hell, while those who chose goodness will be with God in heaven. So these are two extremes from what we see in ordinary human life. Somebody can be extremely evil, wicked or deadly. Any person can be extremely homely, nice and righteous. The action of a person 'cos of the 'will power' allows the individual to dictate where the person can be - either in heaven or hell. In hell, there is a lake of fire which never dies, evil souls swim in it forever infinitely. In heaven there is eternal bliss, where the angels of God sing 'Hosanna in the highest' without end. The book of Revelation tells us about this great lake of fire and those who have washed themselves in the blood of the lamb - Jesus. Hell is the automatic place of evil people and they will forever swim in this lake of burning sulfur. It is like the sun and the scourging rays. When you say the heat is so much, you inadvertently refer to the scorching sun oozing out the heat via the rays. Hell, lake of fire and connected in such manner. It is real. Heaven is sure.

Hell is the common grave of mankind , in other words , it is death and not a mystical place of torture.
The lake of fire is symbolic of total destruction , it too is not a literal place.
When God brings his loyal people to perfection he will do away with death , by destroying it in the lake of fire.
Then people will never have to grow old , get sick and die as they will have achieved perfection and gained the gift from God of everlasting life on a paradise earth.
If you would like to know how you can personally benefit in this way plz feel free to email me.

The Lake of fire represents total destruction of someone or something, and since hell is to be cast into the lake of fire that means that it will be destroyed as will death and beceause there will not be anymore death there will be no further need for hell(the grave) since people will live forever.(Revelation21:4,5)

Hello NYC! According to Scripture Hell and the Lake of Fire are synonymous with each other. Both are referred to as the bottomless pit. Both are referred to as a place of burning.Revelation 20 speaks of those who have rejected Christ and ultimately will be destroyed in God's final phase of his judgement.
NYC, I have decided to follow JESUS. My mind is made up. I have a home in Heaven waiting for me.
John 14:1-3
Have faith dear friends in God.

The quote is "cast into a lake of fire and burning sulphur."
Hell is not hell because of this though, it is hell because God and Jesus are not there.

Aren't you reading this a tad too literally? The Bible isn't a map or a geography text.
