It was unique how I did it. I asked her to marry me 4 days before I went to Iraq and only had a necklace. Came home 6 months later for 2 weeks and tried to surprise her with a ring but it fell through. I got home about a month ago and had the ring...My Company Commander called me in front of the entire company with friends and family there for the welcome home ceremony, I called her up to the front and "proposed" to her with the ring.
Somewhat on the spot/planned in advance...just do what feels right..

Hi. I am just the "Missus", but I can remember how I was proposed to. It was Boxing day 2000. The boyfriend (as he was at the time) had stayed over, had a bath, got out of the bath, came into my bedroom, dripping wet and nude,and proposed. It was definitely "on the spot" as I waited until November 2001 for my engagement ring!!!!!

Well my fiancee planned his proposal. It was Valentine's Day 05' and he took me out to dinner to this very fancy restaurant. He insisted we exchange gifts at the restaurant but I wanted to do it at home but agreed with him. He had this really big bah and after about 20 min at the restaurant he said lets exchange gifts. When I looked in the bag it was a bouquet of red roses. They were beautiful but I found it weird he had put them in the large bag. After looking closely, I realized there was one weird looking rose and when he saw I noticed he took the bouquet and opened the flower shaped ring holder and got on one knee and proposed. It was such a surprise, I was soo excited. We are getting married on April 19th 08' in the Caribbean!

Men aren't the only ones to propose you know! Last leap year i proposed to my now husband. We were sitting on the sofa and I told him that honestly life was always going to be uo and down, we would face happiness and sadness, but as long as we were together then I knew we would get through it with smiles. I asked him to marry me he saud yes, and i gave him his ring. This may sound sad to many of you... i may sound desperate, and i think i would agreee with you except for the fact that my husband was going to ask me to marry him the next day.. he was waiting for the ring that he'd had resized to arrive at the jewellers the next day (I saw the receipt, and he'd ordered it 2 weeks beofre)! So he proposed on one knee on the kitchen floor with my ring the following day!!! What made it more romantic was that through the kitchen window we could see the church where we actually went on to get married.

My Husband proposed to me on the spur of the moment. He got down on one knee in the middle of the shopping centre on a busy Saturday afternoon. I was so shocked but said yes and we went to the jewellers together and chose the ring.

On the spot - on my knee - 2 weeks after we met ! That was 32 yers ago - still married, happy ,lived on five continents been everywhere done everything had 4 lids - a great life and its still half done

My now husband proposed to me 3 months after we started dating at a VIP pre-Christmas tree charity event in front of a large group of people. He had made desserts for the event because he was a pastry chef. He even made our wedding cake. It's been wonderful!!
