I wish we wouldn´t have rented a tux-we should have taken that $95 rental fee and invested it in a suit. The best man wore a suit, my Dad wore a suit, and we should have either bought my husband to be a nice suit, or just bought him a really nice white shirt and a tie instead of renting a tux.

I just wanted to post this so other people would follow our advice-100s of other guys had worn that same tux, and we should have had my husband wear something he could have kept the rest of his life.

I agree with you, Breezer! Husband was uncomfortable in his tux, it just wasn't his thing. We brides spend money on the gown we keep, and don't wear again - so grooms could buy a suit, which they would wear lots! I've been at weddings since ours where the groom and the groomsmen wore suits, and they looked great!

Buying a suit is a very smart choice.

Another alternative is to just rent part of the tux....like the shirt, vest and bow tie. A nice suit goes great with these items. Or just rent the vest and buy and nice shirt and tie.

Thanks for posting... My husband and I decided for him to wear a suit for the same reason. Tuxedos are worn very seldom but a great suit can last for years. We bought a classic Hugo Boss and I helped him with the shirt and tie. He looked really amazing and still had the groom feel w/out a tuxedo. I hope other brides read this post.

That's what we're doing! and the GM are wearing Khakis and white shirts. We're having a small (50 people) ceremony in his parents back yard, tuxes would be to a little to formal for that.

It is really good advice though! Good job!

I totally agree. A few years after we were married my husband needed a suit and so we had to buy one then - if we had just done it for the wedding he would have already had one and saved a little money too. It was too late for us, but thanks for giving a heads-up to the upcoming brides and grooms.

Yeah, we're going to buy a suit too. It's the most important day of his life, right? So it just seems like he should be wearing his own clothes.

thats what we did for our wedding. we bought my husband a suit so that he could wear it again if needed (he needed it a few months later for his grandmas funeral) so in the end it was a better option for us

hey breezer, let it go hun. it was done, but of all the things that you could be wishisng you didnt do, that's a pretty good one to come up with. Imagine wishing you didnt go through with the wedding, or if teh food had been awful on the day, or your families hate each other, etc etc etc.

what I'm saying is, if that's the biggest issue with your wedding, I would consider you to be a very lucky person!

Congrats on your marriage and hope that this is as big as the problems ever get for you!
