as a salon owner and a experienced stylist, have to say this is an old wife's tale, as the products used now to bleach your hair a more subtle, and just think everybody with dyed hair can't go swimming I don't thinks so, chlorine is bad for your hair so rinse it well after swimming then they is no problem
if the amount of chlorine in the pool damaged your hair it would also damage your eyes skin and throat, so the answer enjoy your swimming

Chlorinated water often leaves bleached hair with a green tinge - alot of blonde's have this problem.
Try rinsing your hair with fresh water before swimming - apparenlty if it's saturated with tapwater first it won't absorb the poolwater, which obviously has a much higher content of chlorine in it. Rinse it properly after swimming aswell.

I have also been bleaching my hair and i love swiming nothing has hapened to it. ya chlorine is bad but i think everything in this world is bad. *too much of something is bad* that's what i say. a little chlorine in the hair wun't spoil it but too much will.

don't stop yourself from having fun, go ahead. after swiming wash your hair throughly and put a suitable treatment for about 30 mins. (read directions)

treatments are very good you should put them once or twice a week. it works wonders for bleached hair. there are also special treatments 4 bleached hair.

get out there and have fun stop worring too much people who have to worry about there hair are the ones who have put relaxers they the one with the real problems.

cheers....

Will turn it green but you can avoid that by either wearing a swimhat, or using a chlorine removing shampoo straight after swimming. Tomato ketchup will also remove the green if it happens.

If you bleached it to a light blonde, it just may turn green, but there's no such thing as fading with bleached hair. The bleach took all the color out of your hair.

Sure - why not?

Municiple water (versus well water) has Cl in it too - you don't avoid showering, do you?

Pool water is not the best thing for your hair but don't avoid swimming - use a good conditioner to keep it strong.
