When in the military, you are still allowed to act almost as a normal citizen in your everyday life, (with a few limits) but you would certainly not have to wait for an order to act in such a situation...

That's like saying a police officer couldn't stop a crime without getting permission from dispatch.

A soldier is a person, and they would not be in uniform unless they where on duty. As a civilian they could stop, and I can't think of a reason why, if on duty, they would not be "given permission" to act.

You don't need orders to protect your self or others from being harmed and as an ordinary citizen you are obligated to stop a robbery by what ever means you have, be it a cell phone or an M16A2. it is unlikely that a Us soldier would be walking down town USA with a fully loaded M16A2 but if he /she were they would not have to ask to intervene.

I think that anyone can stop a robbery, so long as no one is killed by their actions. I guess the definition of "swift action" can determine this. If the soldier uses their assault rifle to quickly take down the culprits, he's probably going to get court marshaled. But if said soldier has a non-lethal weapon and is able to safely neutralize the threat without killing anyone, it might be a good thing without negative consequence to the soldier.

What would a lone American soldier be doing near a bank fully armed? I dont believe I have ever seen a lone soldier deployed anywhere.

Is this fiction in the uSa or else where??

Again... the additions of erudite's warped opinions inside of a copyrighted article... but this time also he has omissions to take out key aspects of the article in an attempt to fool the gullible into believing his spew... also adding a completely bogus quote that NEVER came from this military general..... erudite is stepping lower and lower all the time The addition and false quote.... "and there is no end in sight." -false quote- ""We ( Military ) are doing the best we can but we are having a tough time. The enemy is very strong and we thought they were dead enders like the President said 3 years ago. But they ( enemy ) are strong and tough as nails." The part left OUT of the first paragraph... "Also, a car bomb killed five people and wounded another 34 after it exploded near a restaurant." Unlike the habitual liar, erudite, I will link the ACTUAL article to this thread..... report this activity by erudite any time you see him doing it....

Even if you are a civillian and are in a position to do something, you should. I mean, firing a gun is just point and shoot. You don't need to no Jackie Chan type bollocks to stop someone. Just yell real loud and charge them with some windmills and you will be the hero of the day.

SERIOUSLY,,, A sensible SOLDIER CAN STOP A BANK ROBBERY, CERTAINLY, do you have to wait for orders to breathe?
