If God is One (it's a fact), then why are there so many religions?

I know the answer and would share after seeing what others have to say...

There are several reasons. One is that man wants to create god in his own image. A god that I have made will approve of me, no matter what.

All roads may lead to Rome but only one leads to Heaven.

Another reason is that these gods are created by demonised people. As Satan and his kingdom only want to kill steel and destroy, false gods are created to lead astray those who don't want the truth.

897 Babulon {bab-oo-lone'}
of Hebrew origin 0894; TDNT - 1:514,89; n pr loc
AV - Babylon 12; 12
Babylon = "confusion" 1) a very large and famous city, the residence of the Babylonian kings, situated on both banks of the Euphrates. Cyrus had formerly captured it, but Darius Hystaspis threw down its gates and walls, and Xerxes destroyed the temple of Belis. At length the city was reduced to almost solitude, the population having been drawn off by the neighbouring Seleucia, built on the Tigris by Seleucus Nicanor. 2) of the territory of Babylonia 3) allegorically, of Rome as the most corrupt seat of idolatry and the enemy of Christianity.

Babylon - False religions with false doctrines contrary teachings to sound biblical doctrines. Which is the reason all have to study the bible for themselves, so as not to be deceived (Luk 21:8). Follow Jesus (WWJD)

It's quite disturbing that instead of us drawn together under ONE GOD, our divisions are widening because of the kind of religion we choose to embrace. One example here. We always find people not just contradictory to other's beliefs, but almost like jumping into one's neck when touched by this subject. So you see, seeing all people in harmony with everyone is like a dream that is far too distant to behold. One reason why there's a variety of religions. Each group disagreeing with another. Each group thinking they are the right group. In fact, there is no right or wrong congregation if all will abide by God's laws, and take one another as brother or sister with due respect for life despite the differences in their belief.

There is no god but Loki. Ignorance and faith are his prophets.

Loki is commonly known as the shape-shifting, trickster god of deceit in Norse mythology.

The only possible explanation for why a divine being would give different impressions of what he wants to different societies around the world and then encourage them to wage war over his true identity is that he is a shape-shifting, trickster god of deceit like Loki.

It's either that, or stupid humans made up religion all on their own and god(s), if any exist, have had absolutely nothing to do with the development of religion on Earth.

There are many religions because humans have imagined many ways to restore good relations with God. But in reality, there is only one way, one truth, and one life.

Most early religions erred by imagining many gods. A foundational insight of Judaism, carried over into both Christianity and Islam, is that God is one. We are to have no other gods but God.

Eastern religions err by imagining God to be the world; they confuse the creation with the Creator. Since many things in the world are evil (e.g., child rapists), a god who is everything cannot be the God who is good.

Of the three monotheistic faiths, only Christianity fully understands the mind and heart of God, who came to live among us and show us the depth of his love. Islam fails to respect human freedom by proselytizing by violence. Judaism remains a parochial religion of piety rules. Christianity is Judaism perfected by the perfect love of Christ.

You have spoken truly that God is One. But remember that religions are not started by God! Religion is man attempting to reach up to God. But God reached down to man by becoming one of us through entering the world through the Person of Jesus Christ. Christianity is not a Religion it is about a relationship. For Jesus is the Creator of Heaven and Earth. He wants to have a personal relationship with all of humanity. Do you have a relationship with Him?

I'm not an atheist, but I'm certainly not Christian, and you may not agree with what I say... ;) But anyway. My belief is that there's one... phenomenon, I suppose, made up of the collective thoughts and dreams and memories of every living being that ever has or will exist. (I've believed this since I was young, even before I found out there was a name for it - Akashic records.)

I believe that since (let's call it the library) this library has everything in it, religions could tap into it. Depending on belief systems, they could see it as a whole (God, Allah, et cetera) or divide the library into various aspects - thoughts on love become Aphrodite, thoughts of agression become Ares, and other polytheistic faiths like that.

So it's basically all this one element (the Akashic records, the library, whatever you want to call it), but different religions interperate in different ways.

It seems no religion is good enough for everybody. Some people always found it necessary to modify an existing religion to form a new one.
