Like the previous poster said, it is most likely covered if you Have comprehensive. It varies according to policy, but mine replaces with no deductible.

Insurance won't go up to fix this, first of all. Glass damage is always paid out by comprehensive (so long as you didn't intentionally crack it, like you were, I dunno, out there smacking your windshield around or something) and comprehensive is a non-chargeable coverage to use. It's there for you TO use, so they aren't going to keep you from doing just that!
As for deductible, in some companies and in some states, repairs that can be done without replacing the entire windshield will be done without you being required to pay a deductible. This is what people are talking about when they say "got it fixed and didn't pay deductible". They are in one of those areas and with just the right insurer. If your insurance company doesn't give free glass repairs, then you are most definitely going to be paying the amount of your comprehensive deductible to get the damage repaired. If you don't have 'full coverage' or comprehensive on your vehicle, you WILL have to pay for the damage out of pocket.
Hope that clarifies!

Usually there is a minimum 150.00 deductible on a windshield. What will USUALLY happen if you find a windshield replacement company that does this is they'll include your deductible so there's no out of pocket money on your end.
Call around and get some quotes and ask them how they deal with insurance companies

Out of your pocket, unless it was done while parked or in and accident. Think about your deductable vs. the new windshield and weight the cost. There is a co. that will fix cracks.

If you have full coverage insurance the insurance company may pay part. You will only have to pay your deductible. Check prices because a lot of times the replacement cost is cheaper than your deductible.

I have State farm insurance and glass coverage is included in my policy. No deductible to pay either. They even paid for a wing window I broke when I locked my keys in the truck.

Some policies will cover for free chip or crack damage, others have an excess and others don't cover at all.
You need to check your policy.
BTW, many comprehensive insurance policies cover free chip repairs.
