I started this job on Tuesday, it is 8 hours a day of doing the same monotonous tasks...and you do these tasks fast...anyway I hate it...yesterday I dident take a break...I worked eight straight hours, and today I would have done the same but I got so irritated that the manager never told me when I could take a break I got up and left for 15 minutes (see...if I want to take a break I have to deal with the backlog since it's none stop of the same task all day). Theres other things I don't like...anyway it makes me stressed out when I get home...I felt like puking today when I got home, my back hurts, and it's making almost depressed (I don't even remember what day it is...I have to think). Anyway I want to quit ASAP...but the managers scare me (I don't even know who my manager is...there is a different one whenever I am there). I want to leave as little notice as possible since I hate the job...my next shift is Wednesday...how do I quit?

And I don't care about a reference.

If you don't like it and feel you are not treated fairly leave. Find out what the break and meal laws are in your state and find out if they are breaking any laws. If they are report them. Go in in person and quit, talk to the HR department and find out when checks are issued. You may even ask them to mail it to you.

Good luck. If you aren't worried about a referral just not go in. But for now I would start looking for something.

Even if its a job that you hate its always good to give a two weeks notice. The reason why I say this is because later on down the line you might be applying for jobs where they really care about your previous work history. I never thought that this would happen to me but it did. I was in the interviewing process for the City of Arlington, TX where I had to take a lie detector test and one of the questions was have you ever just walked off of a job without giving notice.

Employers now are doing more and more checks into there potential new employees and I would hate for this to come back and bite you later. Luckly for me I was able to explain the reasons why and they accepted it and I luckly got the job. Its always better to try and stick it out and give the proper notice. What I would recommend that you do it put in your two weeks notice. Some companies if you put in your notice they don't require that you work it because of fear that your are leaving and that you don't care about the work that you are doing so they would just let you leave. Or just put in your two weeks notice and try to work that whole thing and if you can't you can't and at least you can honestly say that you gave notice and tried to work through that notice.

Good Luck To You!!

You do not work every day so you have time to do some things during the normal work day time.

You do need to leave this job. The question is can you remain there until you find another job. Only you can answer that question.

If you do want to give some type of indication that you are leaving it may be done by a note that you hand to a manger or even one that you mail.

As far as breaks are concerned that may be covered by state law. Inquire at your state labor department or it may be posted someplace in the workplace.

Do not get sick over a job. Your health is worth more than the money.

If you truly hate the job that much and are bringing the depression and angst home with you, you need to leave. Too many people work at a job they hate, feeling much the way you do, where a Monday is a Tuesday is a Wednesday, etc. They waste precious years of their lives suffering through the misery and frustration of a bad job. Why put yourself through that? You already know what you want to do. Tell your managers that the job isn't a good fit and you won't be coming back. There are plenty of other jobs out there that are probably better suited for you. Good luck.

Stop freaking out man. Work seems scary if you're new to it, but really it's no big deal. Just don't go back, it's as simple as that. If you want out so badly, and you don't care about your final paycheck, a good reference, or anything else, then just stop attending. It's not like they can physically hurt you/kill you, file criminal charges, or anything else that will affect you in the long run. If you don't want to give notice, a reason, anything at all, they can't make you. Just stop going in and don't answer your phone when it rings.

Or, if you want to show a little backbone, just show up there, or even ring them on the phone, and just tell them that you quit and you're not coming back. That would be the "right thing to do", if you can stomach it. But that's entirely up to your own conscience. You don't have to do that if you don't feel like it. Quitting something is the easiest task in the world - you just don't do it anymore. =)

If you are starting to feel depressed because of this job then you should just quit. Your mental well being is NOT worth any paycheck they could ever give you! Call them tomorrow and say, "im sorry but this job is not working for me and ill be needing to give you a notice...Notice I wont be there on Wednesday!" And thats that. Start lookin for another job. Dont be scared of the managers...what are they going to do, kill you for quitting??? Sounds like an aweful place to work anyway...get outta there!

Ryan, it's too bad that your job turned out to be so monotonous.

I recommend that you call your employer and ask to speak to the Human Resources or Personnel Department. When they get on the line with you, explain that you are tendering your resignation and would like to know when you can pick up your paycheck. They will probably ask you why you've reached this decision - just explain to them that the job is not what you thought it would be & believe it to be in everyone's best interest for you to move on.

Best of luck to you in your future endeavors!

Throwing up isn't gonna work, try making yourself LOOK sick. Say you have a really bad headache, and that you feel like your going to throw up. But before hand rub some baby powder all over your face to make yourself look pale. And rinse your mouth with hot water, and warm your forehead. Works for me everytime. Or stay in the bathroom for like 10 minutes and come out saying "I don't feel good, I had some diarreah. " LOL works for me too

Ryan, sorry to hear you are not enjoying your job.
Firstly it is illegal to leave anyone without a work break. (unless you work in a 3rd world country).

What was the main factor you picked this particular job? Money, close to home?

Can you go to the person who interviewed you, and tell him you are not happy. You may find he/she is happy to adjust things for you. You never know till you ask.

You may be hurting physically as it is a new job, and may ease a little further down the track.

Let us know how you got on.

Find a new job and give them your notice when you have. If you are scared of your manager you may want to stop by the supermarket for some backbone.
