My brother-in-law has had Parkinsons Disease for a little over 4 years. His balance is extremely unsteady now, I have watch his disease progress slowly. He takes all of his medication faithfully and is looking into a surgery now. I'm not sure what you mean when you ask why do we have to pay for prescription charges? If you are not on social securety disablity, look into it. Financial assist may be under Medically Needy or Medicaid. I do know the state of Florida has agencies to help out. Good Luck!

my mum was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease just over a year ago.It wasn't a gradual thing but virtualy came on overnight and she thought she'd had a stroke - she was 86.However, a year on and she's better than she was but knows there is no cure. She has carers coming in twice a day (was 3 times a day but the evening girl was interrupting her Emerdale and Corrie -so we knew she was feeling a bit more confident !!)
You must be quite young .Here in Wales all prescriptions are free to all ages and I believe to over 60's anywhere else. I also think there's some sort of scheme available for people who have to have regular medication.
Mum's a bit wobbly most of the time and although at first she didn't want one ,she now feels more confident with a 'tripod' type of walker and I've also bought her a swivel seat for the car as she likes to go for a ride in the countryside once a week. That makes getting in and out of a car easier.
So, I know she WILL get worse but the tablets are a great help at the moment and doing crosswords etc help keep her fingers moving properly. Cheer up !!

Sorry to hear you have Parkinson's Disease. I've know a few people that have had it. Just take each day as it comes. You can still do a lot of things. So, enjoy what you can while you can. And, I hope the medications are available for you. Try seeking financial assistance if not.

Hi, I'm really sorry to hear that. Prescription charges are a nightmare, it is totally unfair how some folks get them free and others don't. Have you thought about buying a prescription pre-payment card - it is just under £100 and all scripts are free for a year. Have a good chat with your doctor/specialist regarding your balance and see what they say. All the best
