Well, Y Q/R is not perfect yet. You can certainly answer your own question within your question, but alas you have to chose someone else's answer which will vindicate the best your personal opinion.
Nepotism is almost as good as sectarism, after all...
> Why arn't people allowed to answer their own questions?
Wouldn't they be the best answers? After all, I know myself inside out.

The number 1 Don't on the Community Standards: "Don't Use Yahoo! Answers as a soapbox to vent your frustrations, rant, or otherwise violate the question and answer format. If you prefer to have discussions or chat with others, please use one of Yahoo!'s other community services, such as Yahoo! Groups or Yahoo! Messenger Chat Rooms."

Why would you ask a question you already know the answer to? You just don't get it, do you! If it is attention you are needing...try another site. If you have a valid question to ask, I would like to hear it. Why are you here?

Most do, within their own question.
But not allowed best answer -- that way the most boring of us would have 100% best answers.

You can answer your own question when you pick a best answer. In other words, if you just pick an answer that is the closest to yours you can give your own in your "Best Answer" comments.

You are allowed to do that. That's what the additional comments area is for. If you are looking for a particular sort of answer, and no one quite hit it, you can pick the closest one, then add your comments (in effect, *your* answer) below that........
You're welcome.... Glad I could help
