I don't want to offend anyone, but it really doesn't make sense to me. There are SO many refrences in the bible that make it seem as if they are seperate. Why would one be called the Father, and one be the Son if they were the same? Can your Father be the same person as you?
"Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased." Luke3:21-22 So- somehow Jesus is on earth, physically being baptized with hundreds of witnesses, at the same time flying above Himself in the form of a dove, and throwing His voice from the heavens as His Father telling everyone that He is well pleased with Himself? I don't get it, please expalin- serious answers please. Thank you:)

i ahev heard the water thing before, water, ice, steam- but although it is the same substance it cannot be water, ice, and steam at the same time. It can only be one, if it is from one piece. You can 3 seperate pieces and have ice, water, and steam, but not all from the same original piece at the same time.

a shamrock is only a shamrock if all the leaves are together. If the leaves are seperated it is nothing- The leaves could not be 3 seperate things, and still be considered one shamrock. The baptism story is this to a t- how can they be 3 fully seperate distinct individuals ALL at the same time, in physical ways- and why would they refer to eachother as seperate if they indeed were not seperate?

tuberoot- i am mormon, and that is why i am asking. I don't understand it. I wanted to know why others do- if they could shed some light. Isn't that the point of this forum? Did find it interesting some of your verse choices- especially the full chapters they were derived from. If you read some of the full chapters it proves my point, as well as some other mormon doctrine that others are so quick to cry false. Especially the explanation of daniel's dream in daniel 7. Too much to discuss on this forum, but would love to discuss with you if you are willing to. Just friendly discussion- no conversion tactics. Just thought it was interesting.

That is because they are separate. Christ Himself said I come not to do my will, but the will of He who sent me. This scripture alone (but there are many others) shows that Christ's fallowed the will of another person... His Father. How can one person or entity have separate thoughts or wills.
Not to mention why do so many give the Father atributes of a entity without form. As if He is every where as a mist or cloud, and that Christ is the embodiment of God? Moses spoke to God face to face as one man speaks to another. Also Christ sits at the right hand of the Father. If God has no form of His own then how can Moses speak to Him face to face or how can the Lamb be seated to His right, if He has no right or left? When Christ was baptised all three members of the Godhead (this you can find in the Bible unlike the trinity) were present. Christ was in the water and the Heavens opened and there came a voice that said "Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." and then the Holy Ghost descended apon Him in the form of a dove. One place three seperate beings.

Perhaps you've noticed, the word "trinity" appears *nowhere* in the KJV. Why? The concept was borrowed from Babylonian mythology sometime *after* the bible's canon was chosen by committee. By preaching an idea which made no logical sense, the priestcraft could keep the commonfolk confused and, thus, themselves in control. Not to be cynical, but think about that.
In "The God Delusion," Dawkins describes the trinity thus:
"Do we have one God in three parts, or three Gods in one? The Catholic Encyclopedia clears up the matter for us, in a masterpiece of theological close reasoning:
'In the unity of the Godhead there are three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these Three Persons being truly distinct one from another. Thus, in the words of the Athanasian Creed: 'the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods but one God.' '
"As if that were not clear enough, the Encyclopedia quotes the third century theologian St. Gregory the Miracle Worker:
'There is therefore nothing created, nothing subject to another in the Trinity: nor is there anything that has been added as though it once had not existed, but had entered afterwards: therefore the Father has never been without the Son, nor the Son without the Spirit: and this same Trinity is immutable and unalterable forever.'
"Whatever miracles may have earned St. Gregory his nickname, they were not miracles of honest lucidity."
EDIT: I hope you recognize the analogies of solid/liquid/gas and past/present/future as nonsensical. The reason should be obvious.
Also, Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness" does NOT family or implicit-trinity. The translator used the plural when the text had God talking to Himself to show His position as king.

The Trinity is a build based in part on the Gospel of John, financial disaster a million, approximately "the be conscious (trademarks)". "...And the be conscious substitute into with God, and the be conscious substitute into God, ... (and) interior the beginning up with God... And the be conscious substitute into made flesh, and dwelt between us". it quite is a magical connection with Jesus Christ that has been interpreted via the Christian Church as meaning that he substitute into part of God, and is now believed to be the 2d guy or woman of God. the 1st guy or woman is God the father. in addition they talk over with the story of Christ’s baptism whilst a dove seems above Jesus’ head, and a voice is heard announcing “it is my loved son in whom i'm nicely delighted” (Matthew 3:17 and Luke 3:22). there are various references to the Holy Spirit interior the hot testomony, and returned this has been interpreted via the Christian Church because of the fact the third guy or woman. some theologians have tried to sq. the circle via explaining that the Son subject concerns from the father, from eternity, and the affection between the father and Son is itself a guy or woman, the Holy Spirit. The doctrine of the Trinity substitute into observed generally interior the Council of Nicaea in 325CE. it quite is tempting to think of that it quite is motivated via different pagan ideals. Theologians attempt to make it sound technical via relating the Triune God - One God, with 3 persons. A e book on Theology I’ve have been given sometimes takes a greater moderen theory or build and reads it returned into till now scriptures. so they could then interpret till now scriptures as relating greater moderen doctrines that the author in no way meant. So in Genesis a million, whilst it refers to God announcing "enable us to ...", they then re-interpret that because of the fact the Trinity chatting with itself; the author had possibly envisaged the Canaanite pantheon (Elohim, sons of the main severe God El Elyon).

It doesn't make sense because it's not true. God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are three separate and distict individuals. Each of us is born with the light of Christ. We can feel when something isn't "right". Your instinct tells you that the trinity can't be a true concept, so you should go with that.

One may suppose that these are separate aspects of a single underlying reality. I like to pose the following analogy: three blindfolded men are examining an elephant. One touches the trunk, one the tusks, and one the ears. Later they compare their experiences, which will of course be quite different. But I consider the whole idea to be nonsense; see:

I am a Christian and honestly it is hard for me to understand sometimes. The easiest way I had it explained to me one times is this. Water, ice and steam are basically the same thing in different forms. Water is what it starts out as, Ice is water frozen and steam is water hot. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one in the same just in different forms. God is ominpresent. He can be in many places at the same time. So God is the original form, Jesus is his form on earth or human form and the Holy Spirit is his spirit form. Still confusing yes but maybe a little easier to grasp.

You are right your father can not be the same person as you, but your Father can be someone else's son, he can be someone else's boss, and your Mothers Husband. But those are titles and he still has a name, but he is not 3 people or even 3 distinct personalities. God is one and He has a name
Act 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
Act 4:11 This is the stone which was set at naught of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

God Himself is a FAMILY. Before God created heaven or earth He was a family. That's why in Genesis He says, "let US make man..." God is a communal being of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Bible makes it clear that these three are in perfect harmony and posses the essence that is called GOD. No angel or other creation can make this claim. There are many things about this GODHEAD that we don't know but one thing God has definitely revealed to us is that HE Himself is FAMILY and He expects us to honor this revelation of The GODHEAD. I hope this helps.
No matter how people try to wrap this around their minds you absolutely can NOT get around God referring to Him and Jesus specifically as FAMILY (only begotten Son) as for the GOD-SHIP of Jesus, The scripture says that All creation including angels shall worship him to the glory of the Father. That's GOD Himself laying down the law that He expects all creation to give Jesus the SAME respect they give God the Father. It's right there in black and white.

God is one and every where at the same time. it was all to show people that Jesus was the messiah. if he sead I am there with you now do you think the people would have understaood better. a son is a continuation of the father. while Jesus ( Yeshua) was on earth he brought us Gods yeshu'ah ( salvation) through his death. it was all planned and fortold in the old testiment. even that God would send his son. Jesus was born with out a human father their for he was called God's son while on earth although he is one with God.
