A feral cat has adopted us. He won't let us close enough to catch him- he comes to the door for kibble, but scoots if we get less than eight feet or so. I'd like to get him some meds to alleviate his scratching (fleas?) but I can't catch him. Since he was grown when he came to us, I think he's never been to a vet. Can I get him something for fleas and other normal cat parasites that I can put in his kibble?

If you want to try a natural route try sprinkling some garlic powder and brewers yeast over some wet canned food. Fleas don't like the taste of those two ingredients and will jump off. There is also a med you get from your vet called capstar, its a pill you could crush up into wet food. This pill will kill all fleas on the pet within 24 hours, it starts working within a half an hour though and the dead fleas just start dropping. It doesn't keep the fleas off for long though but it will relieve the immediate problem. You can buy just a couple pills from your vet and they are less than $5 each. I have bought them from a canadian online vet website for pretty cheap and without a prescription. Best of luck and thanks for feeding our feral feline friends. :)

i know now there is a product u can get from ur vet. i don't know if ur vet will just give it to u over the counter but its a flea product that is given by mouth i believe in pill form also you can ask him for a dewormer. if u can't u probably would need to rent a trap and take him down for them to do it. most stuff at the stores dont work so dont waste ur money.
