If you are a Muslim and you do this, shame on you, and you are sinning majorly. What do you think of what this has to say?
"Noble Verses 4:34-36 "(34). Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).
The Arabic word used in Noble Verse 4:34 above is "idribuhunna", which is derived from "daraba" which means "beat". The issue with all of the Arabic words that are derived from the word "daraba" is that they don't necessarily mean "hit".

The word "idribuhunna" for instance, could very well mean to "leave" them. It is exactly like telling someone to "beat it" or "drop it" in English.
Allah Almighty used the word "daraba" in Noble Verse 14:24 "Seest thou not how Allah sets (daraba) forth a parable? -- A goodly Word Like a goodly tree, Whose root is firmly fixed, And its branches (reach) To the heavens". "daraba" here meant "give an example". If I say in Arabic "daraba laka mathal", it means "give you an example".
Allah Almighty also used the word "darabtum", which is derived from the word "daraba" in Noble Verse 4:94, which mean to "go abroad" in the sake of Allah Almighty:
"O ye who believe! When ye go abroad (darabtum) In the cause of Allah, Investigate carefully, And say not to anyone Who offers you a salutation: 'Thou art none of a Believer!' Coveting the perishable good Of this life: with Allah Are profits and spoils abundant.

Even thus were ye yourselves Before, till Allah conferred On you His favours: therefore Carefully investigate. For Allah is well aware Of all that ye do. (The Noble Quran, 4:94)"
So "daraba" literally means "beat", or "go abroad", or "give" but not in the sense to give something by hand, but rather to give or provide an example.
Important Note: Notice how Allah Almighty in Noble Chapter (Surah) 4 He used "daraba (4:34" and "darabtum (4:94)", which are both derived from the same root. He used both words in the same Chapter, which tells me that "daraba" in Noble Verse 4:34 means to desert or leave, since that's what its derived word meant in Noble Verse 4:94."

Hey sister.. are you nuts... how can I beat my wife and still be a Muslim. It is not possible.
There are those who think that Muslims beat their wives routinely, but it is absolute ignorance of them. A man may beat his wife and can be from any religion but it is not human.
Islam never allows this, The best example of this is to go through the life of Prophet(saw).

Beating in Quraan does imply "hit" but it surely differs from crisis to a different. There's an incident in which Aisha disobeyed the prophet in a single occasion and he was once correct even as she was once improper, he took his stick and touched her at the arm, displaying that he was once now not pleased approximately it. You understand that during Islam, a girl is damned if she disobeys her husband, however there are limits. This is in which folks combine up matters and others get stressed. It is naturally mentioned that disobeying a husband is improper if the husband was once correct, for illustration if he advised her to not cross out along with her buddy (having a well cause) or different matters. People take it that she needs to be his slave which isn't the case. Beating right here is also the equal inspiration. It is encouraged for guys to make it transparent to their females that once they disobey, that they don't adore it. They can both exhibit it by means of giving them a appear, or running away or as it's mentioned to hit. Muhammad (PBUH) accurately replied the questions for a few Muslims that the hit will have to now not harm, it will have to be identical to a caution or a signal that the spouse is improper. The hit will have to now not be to the face or any touchy subject. But sure, Daraba in Quraan way "beat" or "hit". Wallahu A'alam

Fascinating!
No, I don't beat my wife, for several reasons. The first is that I am female and don't have a wife. The second is that I'm not Muslim.
I wouldn't belong to a religion that people interpret to mean a man can and should beat his wife physically. Regardless of the explanation you have given, apparently a lot of Muslims think they are encouraged to beat their wives. Why any woman would put up with this, I don't know, but I suppose a person can be persuaded to accept almost anything.
I like your explanation better. Too bad more people don't agree with you.

There are more ways to abuse someone than to hit them! There is no excuse for abuse of any kind!!>> I find these verses of the Koran to be ugly and wrong. If I ever had any questions about your religion they have all been settled in the verses you have quoted. I could NEVER be a part of a religion with this kind of belief structrue and scripture to live by!!!>> I do not need the men in my life to be "proctectors and maintainers" over me. And whether men are "stronger" is very debatable!! Also, if my actions are considered "ill conduct" then I will answer to God and NOT to any mortal man!!! Please, think about what you have written! Please!

The verse in Arabic says: إضربوهن Which in English means: Strike...
Some scholars interpreted "Strike" as like "Laborer strike in a factory"; i.e. don't touch them.. untill they end their repulsion...
Physical beating in the school of thought that allows it refers to the woman that flirts with another man without committing adultery, or abuses her kids, mother or mother in law .
The verse is also for the woman who rejects her husband or maltreat him or try to be dominant.. some women beat their men and the verse refers to them.

How can I beat someone who stares at me with tender heart and smiling lips. One who has come to share the journey of my life as to share together my joys and sorrows. It wasn't Prophet's (PBUH) way or righteous men to beat their wife. Islam always gives room for something with a strict condition in order to solve some problems without getting into a bigger problem or ruining of a whole life.

Genesis
God fashions a woman out of one of Adam's ribs. This was necessary since Adam couldn't find a "help meet" in any of the animals that God made for him. 2:20-22
In the Bible's book of Deuteronomy it says that if a man marries a woman and then decides that he hates her, he can claim she wasn't a virgin when they married. At that point her father must prove she was a virgin. (How is not explained.) If he can't, then the woman is to be stoned to death at her father's doorstep. (22:13-21)
If a betrothed virgin is raped in the city and doesn't cry out loud enough, then "the men of the city shall stone her to death." (Deuteronomy 22:23-24)
group of sexual depraved men beat on the door of an old man's house demanding that he turn over to them a male house guest. Instead, the old man offers his virgin daughter and his guest's wife: "Behold, here are my virgin daughter and his concubine (wife); let me bring them out now. Ravish them and do with them what seems good to you; but against this man do not do so vile a thing." The women were subsequently ravished and killed. (JG 19:22-29)
In Exod. 21:7 we see that it is permissible to sell one's daughter (but apparently not one's son) into slavery.

No. A man who beats his wife is NO man, but a "coward" amongst true MEN. A man should cherish his wife as PART of him and should praise her for the children she bears unto him. Your "Allah" is the more modern "Amen" of my faith of which I worship and give praise to, "along" with a more modern acceptance of the papyri of Nu where he prophesized of the divine babe we accept as Yezua (Jesus). Our "father" in heaven gives respect unto all persons, equally, INCLUDING women and I have always found the degradation of women in any supposedly holy words appalling. The age has come for change in what we consider HOLY for much of them lack the fundamental understanding of righteous behaviors OF and FOR the holy. May Amen (Allah) be with you.....

Prophet Mohammad saw is the best practical model for application of Quran. Quran was sent to him, explained to him and he was guided by God himself to follow. He said the good among you is the one who is good for his family, and I am the best for my family.
It is narrated in the books that prophet saw never beat his wives or his servants. so muslims has no plea for this. Secondly as far I know our society feels meanness for the people beating or misbehaving their wives,
