until Tuesday to provide refills to my medicine. Feel like I am having withdrawal symptoms, a lot of shaking and nervousness. Any ideas? Thank you

Most of the time your pharmacy can provide a few pills until your doc approves refill, it is not a narcotic, walgreens will usually do this for meds that are not controlled.

Is there another Dr. in his practice? Surely, the nurse could ask them for a few pills until your dr. gets back. Also, see if your pharmacist will give you just enough until the doc gets back. Otherwise, you will feel really bad. You didn't say how long you have been taking it. Sounds like you do have withdrawal symptoms. I am in the process of weaning myself off of 10 mg. I have been on it for a year and a half. Now in my 3rd week of withdrawal and down to one pill every 3rd day. Even with 10 mg. the symptoms are harsh. The dizziness and nausea are brutal. Not sure how I will make it after next week when I am supposed to be completely off.

You don't mention the meds you are taking. It helps to know which ones you are on. I take Wellbutrin XL and have found that when I have run out in the past and could not refill for a substantial amount of time that lots of caffeine, Omega 3-6-9 and time alone helped. You can also call your doctor and let them know you cannot refill right away and many times they can give you samples to fill the gap.

Walk into the pharmacy where your prescription was filled.
Take your empty med bottle with you.
Ask to speak to the pharmacist.
Explain your dilema.

It is possible that he may sell you a couple of pills to get you through until your Dr. is back.

----------

Next time you are nearing the end of your bottle, and think there may be a gap in your med supply, for a few days you may be able to take 1/2 the usual antidepressant dosage, so you only notice a little difference, then when your refill comes through, resume the full dosage.

This is not good. And "yes" is typical of symptoms experienced when a dose is missed. If your Dr is out of town you need to call his/her number and have the Dr. who is on call paged.
Sometimes if you let your Pharmacist know, they can try to reach your Dr. for you. Or, they are sometimes willing to "loan" you 1 pill to get you through.
If all else fails, go to your local urgent care and take proof of your Rx. But there really should be someone covering for your Dr. while he's away.

It is not good to suddenly stop taking meds like Paxil...Most Dr.s leave a Ph # to a pager or another Dr. to take their patients calls when they go on vacation. Call your Doctors office and listen to the whole message to find the appropriate Ph # to call and explain your situation..

I had this happen to me, and I was soooo pissed about it! The clinic wouldnt even let another one of their docs look at my chart to provide me with enough meds until my normal doc got back from vacation!!! I had to go to the emergency room just to get 10 lexapro tablets! How ridiculous is that! I went and found a new doctor!

You can call his office and see if there is someone there that can write you a prescription, enough till he gets back...If there is another doc there they will see in your record you on this...It is not a good thing to come off this medication all at once...
If some is not able to do this, go to the ER, they can write you one...

I don't think it's the Paxil, but if you are worried about it you can call a Pharmicist and ask them. I wouldn't worry. Try to keep busy doing other things.

Since you take Paxil it's telling me you are a worrier. Put your mind on other things especially on other people. Think about them. Give them a call, write a letter, do a chore or errand for them. Keeping active in doing upbuilding things will help you to calm down and give you self-esteem.

take your prescription bottle to a walk-in clinic or to the emergency room if you feel you need the Paxil tomorrow.
