Ok, I just had all 4 removed last week. Make sure to take your pain pills and your antibiotic an hour apart (if it says to on the bottle of the antibiotic) and finish off the antibiotic, even if your teeth feel fine. Your jaw will feel stiff and sore the first couple of days, but that will go away and no, they didn't wire it shut. cold applesauce tastes really good! Make sure to eat soft foods, and if you get food in the hole where they took the tooth out take a syringe and gently squirt water into it to get the food out- leaving it in there could lead to infection. As for dry-socket, the stitches will help keep that from occouring. If you follow the doctor's post op directions (like not spitting forcefully) then the chances of dealing with dry socket are slim to none.

Don't gargle or rinse with peroxide because it will remove the clot that forms in the socket where the tooth was removed. You may find using a cool salt water (1/4 teaspoon in 1/2 cup of water) for a rinse soothing. Also do not use aspirin before or after having your tooth pulled, it increases bleeding. If you have mitral valve prolapse you know you would be put on an antibiotic prophylactic.
I have had all my wisdom teeth pulled and needed nothing more than Tylenol after.

I would get a second opinion, before you do it.
Why do you want your wisdom teeth out. Are you in pain?
I still have mine.
Back in 1970, My dentist said I urgently needed to have my wisdom teeth pulled or I would be in a lot of pain in the not to distant future and if i waited it would be much more difficult
to remove. he said cost would be $650.-
as I said I still have my wisdom teeth . i have no problem with them. This dentist was just looking for a sale.
so again I would think about doing it. at least get a second opinion. Don't get cheated, by having your teeth pulled when it is not necessary

You should do what your dentist tells you to do.

Don't waste time asking medical/dental questions here. You are paying your dentist good money to extract those teeth, and part of that service is to answer questions about treatment.

Talk to him!

I doubt if any of the folks who've answered this question are dentists. I know I'm not!!

It really is not bad at all
modern dentistry is nearly painless
eat a big meal before you go, you may not be able to eat for a few hours after
they will explain to you how to prevent dry socket
just do what they say
you will be fine
I promise
