I'm Canadian and have a Korean wife. She is applying for permanent residence and wants to also apply for a work VISA. However, the documentation I have seems to imply that she needs to have an employer ready to offer her work and supply papers that prove this BEFORE she can get a work VISA. It makes no sense...no employer so far has even looked at her without a work VISA first. What gives?? Which is first?

Is she looking for the wrong thing ? A work visa sounds like it would be job-specific.

Is a work permit different ? Does permanent residence grant the right to work ?
