I don't think we can be sure which set of Muslims follow the Qu'ran more correctly.
Edit to St.
Christians have called these people out many times over, they have not hijacked Christianity.

Why don't moral Christians defend their religion? Why do they let right-wing extremists use it for their own purposes and say nothing? Is it because they don't want to present a "house divided"?

What are you talking about? Plenty of muslims speak out against it. The media's just not interested in it. It doesn't make "a good story" like all those bloodthirsty extremists.
That's like asking why Catholic priests don't defend their mission when tons of priests have molested people. They DO defend themselves and speak out against those bad people. Once again: People are more interested in the extremists than the morally right people

Moral muslims shouldn't have to....Christians and Jews don't apologize for their crazies so why should the muslims do so.
Moral muslims are defending their religion by practicing it the right way. Should they speak every time some crazy does something? Is it their fault this stuff happens?
Besides some muslims actually do go on google and type "Muslims against terror" and see what you fing

Part of the religion itself prescribes that you must accept the teachings of certain clerics who have reached a high rank. Therein lays the problem, that the individual loses the power to make decisions for themselves.
This used to be the case the Roman Catholic Church, but has somewhat changed. This IS the case in many local fundamentalist churches in which the "pastor" has usurped too much power! (i.e. Jerry Falwell , Rev Ike, Farakon, Robertson and their ilk).
Also, with Islam, it is extremely difficult for an intelligent learned person to excuse and deify its founder except by blind faith.

There are many Muslims like myself that speak out against terrorism often in daily life.... and others in the links above who speak out against terrorism in the media... however the media has not yet and probably never will given this much play. Society has always needed a scapegoat. It just seems that Muslims are the current scapegoat for our generation.
Peace and Blessings,

Check this:

Christians have done the same in the name of their god, as have other extremists from other religions.

they are probably afraid to.it would seem to me that perhaps those Muslims here in the us should raise their voices louder against the muslim freaks, since here they dont have to fear reprocussions as much.

Because faith is personal and not political...if you have to defend it to other people you aren't practicing it correctly. Same goes with needing to hurt or kill others. Religion is simply a personal metaphysical paradigm.
