Did anybody notice how frantic Denny Hamlin was trying to unhook himself from his burning car? It looked like he couldn't disconnect his helmet from the vent and/or the restraint unit.

Sure if the car would have been burning any worse Denny would have been fried.. He had problems getting his vent hose off the top of his helmet. And it looked like he struggled just to get out... Not a good thing , he might have to practice this a little more just incase this happens again.

he's been racing long enough, so i think he knew exactly how to undo his Hans. The ventilation system is nothing but a long tube, though it may be different in NASCAR. i have not actually watched this, and this is my first time hearing of it. Denny Hamlin is a trained athlete, he may have just been frustrated instead of panicy.

Yes,I noticed that too. I don't know if it was so much that he was frantic or upset that he had been taken out of the race . I THINK that the fire was already out when he was trying to undo his helmet.

Thank the Lord he wasn't seriously hurt

Ever tried to get out of your car, wearing a 5 point safety harness, a hans device, wearing driving gloves while in a molded seat, while under stress?

Personally, I have only experienced the last one. Yes he did struggle, but I do understand why he might have had troubles.

He hasn't had much practice not finishing races, wasn't this like his 2nd DNF(major crash) in his Nextel cup career, he's never had one like this before for sure, it did seem to see like he did struggle a bit. Denny always seems to finish races...He's in the chase, and he will do just fine. It was alittle nerve racking watching him struggle with that thing on his helmet so he could get out of the car....

Yeah he did have a hard time and he did seem to be a little anxious. I guess if your crew chief was telling you to get out of your car cuz its on fire you would be anxious to get out too.

Geez it never pays to be in a hurry!!!!
