Like for example if part of the lung is cut out is there any chance that the lung will regenerate itself?

The cells in our lungs die and are replaced, just like skin cells.

This is why the lungs can recover well with time if someone stops smoking.

However, if a piece has been surgically removed, then it will not grow back, any more than a finger would.
