In the dairy case, pretty close to the half-and-half, in the same kind of a box.

Not all stores will have heavy whipping cream. You'll have to make do with whatever you can get - but *please* don't buy "fat free half-and-half". I don't know what it is, but it sure as the devil isn't half cream, half milk.

It's definitely in the dairy section; exactly where you'd expect to find milk. Make a note: don't look for something that says "heavy whipping cream." The small carton should read "heavy cream" and not necessarily "heavy WHIPPING cream." Don't get LIGHT CREAM or half-and-half and certainly not WHIPPED CREAM. They are not the same thing. As an example, a substitute for 1 cup of heavy cream is 3/4 cup whole milk plus 1/3 cup butter or another substitute for 1 cup of heavy cream is 2/3 cup evaporated milk. A substitute for 1 cup of light cream is 1/2 cup evaporated milk plus 1/2 cup milk (obviously a lighter version of cream).

You'll find it in the dairy case. Heavy whipping cream and whipping cream are the same thing. Just make sure you don't get sweetened whipping cream, or CoolWhip. As another writer suggested, you can use half and half also. Half and half will thicken when you cook it, and adding parmesan cheese will also thicken your sauce.

Dairy section, near the milk, half and half, yogurt, and sour cream. But beware, do NOT accidentally pick up baker's cream. It's way too sweet. It's in that section too.
