my boyfriend just broke up with me to be with someone else now what should i do?

he's out of town. he called me and told me hes coming home tomorrow as planned but moving to where he is now. he wants to get to know another girl there and continue college there so he can be with her. i'm interested in my friend who's a guy. my friend is interested in me. should i go for it or stay single?
