Hi I was thinking about adopting a 2 year old rottweiler. He is a male and he comes from a family with young children. What I was wondering is, how much drool and chewing is involved with this breed?

thank you.
Any more advice would be appreciated

I have a 2 year old rot and he doesn't drool very much. He is great great with kids, he use to live with a 2 year old girl. As for the chewing, he only chews when he is bored. If he doesn't get to go to the park he'll end up chewing up a pair of shoes, or a purse, or anything else that is on the floor. As long as he gets enough exercise he is fine.... Good luck. Rots are great dogs, and most of the time don't deserve the bad rap they get.

Some Rotties may drool, but they're nowhere near as bad as, say St Bernards or Mastiffs. At 2 years old, hopefully he's over his puppy chewing stage. Make sure he's neutered, and learn what you can about the breed to make sure that he is a good fit for your family. Also, take a look at your homeowner's insurance or your rental agreement and make sure that there aren't any special provisions for Rotties, since idiot owners in the past have given the breed a bad reputation in some areas.

It depends on the dog. Rottweilers don't drool that much though. As for chewing, some dogs like to a lot, some don't.

he should be out of the chewing stage thankfully but there is some drooling. I dont think it is horrible but mild.

They are good dogs. Make sure he was properly socialized though. They can be agressive dogs if not properly socialized.
I would see if you could take him out to a dog park or sometihng before you buy him and check him out in his environment.

There are rottweiler rescues online, just email them and ask about the breed, they're VERY familiar with the dogs!

Here you go:
