On Sabbath, jewish people are not allowed to do a lot of things. Pretty much anything at all, unless it is an emergency. But if it is ok for those things to be done during an emergency, then why do they need to be banned in the first place? If those acts are commited at all, then they are considered a sin, wether or not its an emergency. Shouldn't they just be banned completely or not banned at all?

Wayne T, apparently you don't understand my question. I get that your religion doesn't allow a lot of things, but I am wondering why someone should follow a relgion when it doesn't allow so many day to day things. Relgion is a big scam in case you didn't know.

The Sabbaths must be boring if all you can do is sit in the dark and pray because everything else is forbidden. Can't even have a cook-out because that would be work, right? Well, unless you could convince God that there's an emergency situation requiring the use of charbroiled steaks, potato salad, and beer.

are you realizing what the exceptions are and why there are exceptions?

the idea is that there are prioritys to the laws, on sabbath no work is allowed.
except preservation of life, comes before that, so if you have to work to save a life, during sabbath, then that is ok.

you make it sound like its just wishy washy do whatever you want if you feel like it.

the sabbath's restrictions aren't supposed to be binding restrictions that hinder you, but free you to rest and have some time devoted to God. it would be silly to have the rules SO strict that you have to stand by and ignore it while someone is dying. and its important to be able to have the FREEDOM of not being burdened by the work and such.

Because human life takes precedence over the law. They are banned in the first place because G-d says so. G-d also says that human life is more important even than Torah. It is the greatest mitzvah to save a life.
