Occasionally giving them a raw egg is all right. But, just as with humans, believe it or not, dogs can get high cholesterol. There are other methods of shining their coats. The pet store is a little more expensive, but the product should be suitable for your dog without any bad health concerns. The vet once told me, 1 teaspoon of olive oil over food once a week will do the same thing.

Raw eggs are great for dogs, and full of nutrients, even the shell. My own dogs get raw eggs shell and all 2-3 times a week. My biggest guy (100lbs+) gets 2, and my smaller dogs (50ish lbs) get 1.
If I feed outside I'll just hand them the eggs, in the house I crush up the shell and mix with the eggs in a bowl. The dogs love them.

Eggs are very nutritious for dogs too, but you run the same risk with raw eggs as people do. The safest way to feed raw egg is to wash the shell before you crack it--that's where most of the bacteria is. I give raw egg occasionally to my dogs and they've never had a problem. Keep in mind too much of a change in diet can upset their digestive system.
