Because it is for our own good and the good of others. God is the truth and the means to salvation from sin and death, and we live in a sinful world and are under attack from Satan et al. We need to stay with God for our own good.
Also, the worship of God is not just religious ritual, it is a way of life, see Romans 12. It means living the way that God wants us to live, being like God's hands and feet to do his will on earth. See Isiaih 58 which is a rebuke to those people who think they are worshipping God by doing religious rituals but neglect to do good to others.
See Matthew 23:23 and Malachi 6:8 and 1Cor 13. Worshipping and praising God is not just lip service, it is submitting to God's will, being a living sacrifice, living according to the ways of the Kingdom of God rather than those of the sinful flesh.

I'm pretty sure the question was not whether or not you had to, or why you do. The question was why Christianity teaches spending your lives worshipping and praising God.
You'd think, if God loved us so much he'd want us to go and live life. If we appreciate him we can show that by our relationship with him, not by wasting our time.
Love in real life cannot survive when given a schedule and strict limitations. You'd think love for anything else would be the same way.

God never tells us not to create- God never tells us to worship Him- He gives us that choice- by the way if the only reason to worship Him was because He gave you your next breathe, He would be worthy- because He did. However, He is HOLY, He is JUST- He is righteous- and He still desires us to have a personal relationship with Him, through Jesus. The Lord does seek those who worship Him, in Spirit and in truth- but not because He is egotistic- but because He is our ALL IN ALL- He is God even if you chose not to acknowledge that.

You know : it's because we belong to God. He has made promises that we know, and it sounds a lot better than the promises he has given if we don't choose to worship him.
If this bothers you, we Christians are sorry. Please figure out what you are talking about, because ignorance won't be tolerated after you die. Find out what God's promises are, then you can feel good about choosing him, or rejecting him. It's up to you, not God. And he won't force you to bow down, and worship him.

I have wondered this. From my experience with others of "His image" (humans) when a person is always seeking adulation and praise and/or is jealous it is because he/she is narcissistic and insecure. That is not considered a very worthy attribute in a person. It always brings up the questions about them, "What is He afraid of and why is He not satisfied with what He has created and happy?

I think you can look at this question from two perspectives: one, He deserves it. Two, it's good for us. When we focus on God's greatness, compassion, etc. it puts us in the right frame of mind and helps us to see the big picture.

Maybe because HE created US so HE can have whatever HE wants?
You can always choose not to do these things. But of course you will reap what you sow.
BTW, We Christians serve our Lord because WE ADORE OUR LORD AND SAVIOR.
