That's a good question. My sister in law performed the marriage ceremony for me and my husband, and there are people who actually question the legality of our marriage since, *gasp*, a woman married us. I had someone ask me one time, "Oh, so you're not really married, then? You had the ceremony but it's not legal?" Ummm...no. I'm pretty sure I filled out the marriage license and changed my name and all that other stuff. I think it hearkens back to a verse in the bible that says something about it being forbidden for a woman to teach a man anything.

For the same reason women are expected to be bastions of beauty, you can see a woman completely nude in films but not men, woman are still paid less than men, and women still don't feel safe enough to walk alone down the street or go to your car in a parking lot at night.

We have not proven our equality, and are demanding it in words but not actions. We are backsliding into a sense of inability and weakness because of the constant bombardment of negative female images and role models (i.e. Paris Hilton, The Girls Next Door, Sara Silverman's Maxim Spread, etc). We have fallen for that old trick that "smart is ugly, and who wants an ugly woman?"

I'm not calling for a bra burning- because our equality has nothing to do with our breasts.

We will only be equal when we demand it with our words and our actions. Only after we prove our worth will there no longer be issues about who is behind the pulpit, who decides whether to reproduce or not, or who is addressing the nation at the State of the Union Address.

Don't you get it, some don't want Gay or Black or Chinese or Women pastors. Some do.

That's what Protestantism is about. It's about a CHOICE, unlike some religions that give you no right to choose!

God does not entrust the preaching of His word to females. It all goes back to Eve allowing herself to be deceived by a STUPID TALKING SNAKE.

1Ti 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

1Ti 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

1Ti 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

1Ti 2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

It IS 2007, that's the point.
Mankind's ideas change with the wind.
God does not change, and His word hasn't changed either.
Get over it.
