There was once a master and his servents needed to find a way to keep the master happy. One of the servents was quick to make clean the house. Another was quick to make ready the gardens. The one who was most loved by the master was the cook who brought forth a bran muffin made with great care, for the master had been without roughage and sheetith not for many days. Following the joyousrelease of the bran muffin, the servent cook was praised as the one who releaved where it mattered most. For an irregular master is quite stubborn and cloudy headed. The muffin had brought great releaf and joy to the master. For it was not how clean things were, nor how well things are growing that mattered in the end.

If Jesus were to give a modern-day parable using bran muffins...

A Muslim brought in a basket of bran muffins and offerred them to everyone in an office. The first man was hungry, but was terrified of the fact that this man could be a terrorist and possibly would poison the muffins, so he refused to eat them. The next man was also hungry, but wanted to know if the Muslim had made them with his left hand or his right hand and refused to eat them. The third man came in and ate the bran muffin and thanked the Muslim for making the bran muffins.

Which man showed the greatest friendship to the Muslim?

He would tell the Sanhedrin to eat more bran muffins because they were full of sh!t.
(That's not a parable, but it's the best I can come up with.)

Ned,
I'm not sure what you are thinking, but I would recommend you read through the gospels carefully, there are only 4 and the reading is easy.

Look at the parables. they are simple word picture used to present and eternal truth that the people needed to learn and remember.

when you ask a question like this someone could think you really don't understand the world around you.

here is something for you to ponder. When Jesus spoke, his words were frequently direct attacts on the teaching of the priests. they were not cloaked in double talk, they were point blank attacks directed to teach the people truth, and to present confrontation with the priest to expose their lies/sin and lack of love.

do you remember when he healed the man on the sabbath? He said, "your sins are forgiven" and the priests thought to themselves, this man blasphemes, for only God can forgive. Jesus knowing their thoughts ask, is it easier to say, your sins are forgiven or take up your mat and walk. But that you might know that the Son of Man has the power to forgive sin, (saying to the crippled man), "take up your mat and walk" and the man took up his mat and walked and all were amazed.

Jesus spoke in simple language so that the people would hear and remember.

one other point, Jesus never one time just spoke when he was not doing the perfect will of God.

read the gospels and see what you find. I think you will come away impressed with his answers. My favorite quote of Jesus is this, "is that your idea or did someone tell you about me?"

He really has a lot of cool stuff if you take the time to look.

And Jesus called them to him, and spoke to them in parables, "how can thou cast out Satan? Just as thy bran muffin's fibrous goodness cleanses thy colon of earthly filth, so too does God cleanse thy soul of spiritual filth. God is thy soul's bran muffin. Eat, and be cleansed."

Bran is the fiber of the soul. In a balanced mix, it is greater than the sum of its parts. So verily I say unto you, take the ingredients of you live and mix them together in the family, the result will allow all of you to live regular lives.
