1. Use your turn signals before you actually get to the corner.
2. Prepare to drive before you move the car: making cell calls buckling up, adjusting the mirrors and seat, taking off your coat, and arranging your stuff, are not driving activities.
3. Be prepared for other people doing the dumbest possible thing at the worst possible time.
4. Watch your rear view mirrors.
(Not necessarily in this order)

I am answering this as a professional driver, so you know where I am coming from with this information.
1) Never assume you know it all. Even drivers who have years of experience behind the wheel learn things every day.
2) Never assume it can't happen to you. IT CAN, and usually will when you least expect it. (Murphy's Law)
3) Never assume the other driver will do what they are supposed to do.
4) Take a driving course from someone who knows, driver's education in school will work. But when you do take this course, listen to the instructor(s).
5) Remember, you are not indestructible, and can be hurt or killed in an accident. So avoid careless and reckless behavior behind the wheel. I don't care what your friends say, if you know it is wrong, don't do it!

Take a driver education course, or at least a couple of in car sessions with a professional Driving Instructor to learn basic skills. You can then practice with some knowledge and develop your confidence over time. Practice with a mature person whom you trust. Drive in quiet areas first to hone your turning skills. As you build your confidence level, move into busier areas, making lane changes and turns at lights. Take it one step at a time. It takes the average person 50 - 60 hours to learn the basic skills. You will continue to gain experience through your life once you pass your very basic road test!

first of all
TURN YOUR PHONE OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HANG UP AND DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO CALLING, NO TEXTING, JUST TURN THAT SH|T OFF!!!

buckle up

use your fuçking turn signals

please STOP at the stop signs. You cannot just go real slow, even if there's no cars; you must make a complete STOP!!

most people don't seem to know what a yield sign means; it means you slow down a bit to make sur no one's coming. If it;s clear, just go; if not, WAIT!!!

good luck!!!

Every time you have a close call because you were hurrying, ask yourself: "do I really NEED to hurry" very often, you don't.

TIP: slow down and don't follow so close.
