I've collected my share of burns while working in a bakery.

Run cool water on it until the pain stops, then apply a generous coat of aloe gel or perhaps Neosporin. It will heal up in a hurry.

Good luck!

If it covering the whole thumb then run it under the cold tap for about 20 minutes. You may need to go to the Dr and get a script for a cream called, Silvazine. It works really well on burns. I burnt the tips of my fingers on both hands one day whilst working in a 5 star hotel. It was really painful. I picked up a stainless steel plate from the oven that was sitting on the bench. Alternatively, rub some tomato on the burn and then go to the Dr.
Hope this helps and have a great day/night!!!

Don't use Ice !

For a Burn anywhere

Run cold water over the effected area for 15 Min's 20 if its a chemical burn, and after it shouldn't hurt so much, and that's about it. if however it blisters and the blister is bigger than a 10p piece then you need to go to hospital.

If the blister bursts put clingfilm over the burst blister and go to the hospital for medical attention.

I know what i am saying is correct as i work for a private ambulance service.

NEVER NEVER use ice or any creams on burns initially.

ice will freeze it and can cause harm
as for creams they will not help at all doesnt matter what the cream says. as most creams have certail chemical in them and could even make the burn worse.

only thing that will help is the following
depending type of burn
place hand under cold running water
15 mins for general burns
20 mins for chemical
30 mins for bitumen

if burn is larger 30 mm in diameter and deeper than 2mm think.
1st step cold running water.
2nd step. see doctor

good luck

i know this coz i have treated many ppl at work

This sounds super crazy but my husband's family puts mustard on burns that have not opened up. So if its just a blister try mustard .Yes regular condiment yellow mustard. I have never tried it but they swear to it. :( sorry that ya burned yourself "that's never any fun".

first of all..don't listen to eric!! never put vaseline on a burn...if its really bad, go to a doctor and they will give you silvadine, which is awesome...other than that try that solarcaine (i think its called) it comes in an aerosol can and it is for minor burns...

If no open blisters....Ice when possible to help with pain....neosporin to help heal. I know it sounds horrible, but wash with soap and water frequently. You don't want it to become infected. Good luck and hope you feel better soon! :)
