It is fine to question your parents but to show them that you don't believe them or you don't trust them is disrespectful. Why do it to God?

I understand everyones opinion but what I don't get is this: If you look around and wonder how the stars, heavens and birds came about, how everything is perfectly calculated: ex. the sun comes up at a certain time, how a baby knows when it is time to come out of the mothers womb, how we know about what is right and what is wrong (compare to animals), ect.
Doesn't nature prove to you enough that God exist!

wyomugs, I gave you a thumbs up!
I am not trying to disrespect anyone. I am just saying that if we have doubts about an existing God, we should look around and see what he has created. We have to allow God in our hearts and stop having doubts about his existence!

capnarlo, Thanks for the chapter!
We all should reason with each other instead of attacking. I know it is hard to tell because we are typing. A typer cannot express feelings when questioning and answering and it might look like someone is insulting when they are not!

Questioning or ASKING Him? There's a difference in the words chosen. Why do we ASK God for everything? Well, He WANTS us to... He wants us to bring everything to Him in prayer, all our fears, wants, concerns, cares, etc., etc. Now, as for QUESTIONING God, yeah, we question God, but only because we do not understand what His will is, and we question Him in order to help us find out and understand.
Pray tell, what does respecting someone have to do with questioning them? Just because we may question someone doesn't mean we have no respect for them. We are trying to understand their positions on things, to gain information, to figure out what's going on and what to do. That doesn't mean there's no respect.
As for your request for no thumbs down... that's just silly. Do you also wish to control our answers, too, so that they are "respectful"? What's this deal you have with respect? Frankly, trying to control our giving thumbs UP or DOWN shows a lack of respect on YOUR part for OUR "right" to express our thumbs UP or DOWN opinion.
Have a blessed day!

There is an unintended parallel between questioning God and the Democrat party of the USA. Humanity as a whole always wants to place themselves at the receiving end of all that is free or can be gotten free with little to no effort. God to the masses hasn't come through, although God has never promised us a rose garden. So the failures in life are attributed to the lack of attentiveness by God. But someone is looking for a free-be.
The democrat party of the USA is hell bent on giving away the farm for the sake of votes. They are doing this by selling off the rights of the working class through entitlement programs for people that are not really entitled. Even so much as to grant citizen rights to illegals. Let me give you an example. The USA has the worlds largest percentage of obese poor people. Go ahead and give me thumbs down. I don't give a damn. This previous last 2 sentences were not meant for the asker of the question.

Simply put: Human nature. I'm not saying that snidely, it's just how we are - we quest spiritually and that leads us to the Path we're meant to be on - I believe that God (whatever the "translation" we each respond to best) speaks a million different ways, these ways are the Paths and Religions and Traditions out there - we all follow what we are moved to follow - and we question, we quest, we SEEK answers.......I believe we were given the ability to do that in order to go deeper spiritually and perhaps even to enhance our connection with the Divine - of course, I don't know that for sure, it's just what I feel to be True. An old Humanities Professor once told me all of the religions of the world are like a gigantic patchwork quilt - each religion is a patch on the quilt and the "stuffing" is the WHOLE Truth - each patch touches on the Truth but no ONE Faith has the WHOLE Truth - yet they each have similarities, read up sometime on the many religions out there, there *are* similarities! That, he said, is the thread that binds them all to the Truth........and in the end, even agnostic, and those who chose to believe there is *no* God have a patch, or are perhaps the edging to the quilt - they're connected just the same......they don't have the answers anymore than any of *us* do.....so keep questing, questioning......YOUR answers will be there somewhere.......Good luck!

first we must obey God and having questions to ask him is fine who will you know if you don't ask however you don't want to wearier him with stuff that worthless asking God one ask and believe that he will answer is called faith in God then God tell us in many places in the Bible the we should honor our parents which is good in God sight and if you honor your parents God have made you a promise and his word don't change and he will do just what he said when it come to your school work you may know more than your parents because they have been out for awhile but when it come to life give them the respect due if not but for one reason they have been here longer and they due have more experience no matter how dumb it might sound to you try it before you disrespect your parents, here an example: your parents tell you,you should wait until you are much older to date but having friends is no problem, you say i;m old enough to date anyway and end up with a baby and no one but mom and dad to help you now you have a life beside yours and schooling is put on hold twenty yrs later you look back and wished you had listen because life don't stop because you did and sometimes we never make up loss time so listen to your parents and listen to God

Do you mean, "why do we always ask God for favors?"? I've often wondered that, Myself. Why do folks seem to only pray to Deity, ONLY when they need something? They are treating him/her as though he/she was a favor dispensing machine. Insert so many prayers and out comes your favor. I RARELY ask Deity for anything for myself or for selfish reasons. I prefer to merely "talk" to Deity as though we were best friends and pass on my feelings about my day or a time I'm going through. If deity wishes to do something about it then the freedom is there to act or not act. If God(ess) is a friend, which IS so, then God(ess), will make the necessary changes in the situation, without ever being asked. Just out of love and caring for us, and WE don't have to ask for a single thing.
At least that is the way I view this.
Brightest Blessings,

I don't question any deity, as you know; as a pagan Witch, I try to be a realist, with all respect. My parents are dead, and they both had a lot of problems, but I do respect what they did, raising 7 kids and dealing with lots of physical and mental problems.
I don't question a god or goddess because I accept reality as much as possible, accepting life on life's terms.

Not believing, Some questions, but many of the individuals here R&S show a total disrespect for the christians way of beliefs and yet are always demanding that they are showed respect and given proper time to tell of their opinions. If one would wish to be given proper respect - SHOW TO OTHERS FIRST!!!!! have a fine day.

What's with the "WE" thingy, Tonto?
Speak for yourself.
I don't thank or blame 'god' for any good or bad thing that happens to me - I take full responsibility for all my own actions; I'm courageous that way.
Hey, I even make my own decisions without the perceived help of Invisible Sky Thingies; pretty cool, a?
I don't find respect from fundies as something I crave for, look for or even expect.
As far as I'm concerned the only thing fundies are good for is the comedy y'all provide for cheap skates like me.
I like cheap laughs and I'm guaranteed plenty at Y!A in the R&S section.
Thank YOU!

Thomas Jefferson best sums up my opinion on this matter:
"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear."
