I have a friend who is wanting to know more about Islam and she asked me about the Islamic standpoint on gay men. I told her that homosexuality is against Islam so she asked about gay men who have no choice in their sexuality, i.e. - Men who are gay aren't gay by choice but they can't help but be attracted to other men.

I didn't know how to respond back to her so I wanted to know what the Islamic viewpoint is regarding men who claim not to have a choice and can't help but be gay...

they should resist it and not act upon it.

Allah mentions that Lot said to his people:

أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِّن دُونِ النِّسَاء بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ

"Do you approach men in your lusts rather than women? Nay, but you are a people who behave senselessly." [Qur'an27:55]

if someone sees the Hell for one minute , he will try his best to avoid such a thing, especially when he knows that God hates it. and whoever give up something for the sake of God, then there is a great reward waiting for him. we all men have desires toward women especially in our 20s, should i let it control me? or should i control my desire?

however, God said He burdens not a person beyond his scope.:
Quran Ch2
[286] Allâh burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned......

Well, your friend has a point.

Why is their personal behavior wrong if they are adults, it is consensual, and frankly doesn't involve you?

Why default to religious responses if the crime does not seem like a crime? Especially as homosexuality is at least influenced by genetics.

its ok if hes gay, BUT he has to act straight. as in marry a woman, etc. and he does have a choice. once he has to like girls, he wil turn straight.
