Fig trees all over Texas are currently producing figs. Most go unharvested. Find a tree in your neighborhood and ask if you can pick some fruit. For more info about fig trees, go here http://www.crfg.org/pubs/ff/fig.html

My sister lives in Houston, and I agree that Whole Foods might have them.
You just missed a Fig Festival in Houston, though! Here's a link. You might call up some of the restaurants featured and find out where they got their figs.

it depends on which store you shop at. they could be in cereal aisle, dried fruit aisle, baking aisle or even in with the fresh prduce or health/organic food aisle. ask the stock person next time you visit the store or better yet, you might get them cheaper at your local health food store. i love dried figs. i eat them plain, out of the package
