Of course, we all have a calling in life. The Vatican II document, "lumen gentium" or Light of the People, explcitly states that each one of us has been blessed with a "charism" or a mission to carry out in God's name.

At one time, I believed I was called to the priesthood. After two years of discernment and living with a religious community, I discovered that I did not have a religious vocation. However, the Lord blessed me with the vocation of marriage and fatherhood.

My wife died tragically in 2003, and now I share in the Cross of our Lord in a special way, by living a chaste life as a widower, and by being a single father to my two daughters.

Saint Joseph is my powerful patron. Indeed, he is the Universal Patron of the Church, and I urge you to ask for his intercession that you may come to know God's will for your life.

We are called to holiness and to the service of God, regardless if we live a Consecrated life, a married life, or a lay single life. We can be living saints, and have a share in the Divine Estate of our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ.

Peace be with you.

I think you misunderstand the meaning of the word destiny. But that's okay.
If you think God is calling you to be a priest, that just means exactly what you said. It does not necessarily mean God wants you to be one. What it means is that for your own peace of mind, you'd better at least pursue it to the degree that you are able. There are a lot of steps between thinking that, getting into seminary, and actually being ordained. Very possibly you are not cut out for the priesthood, and will find your true calling by pursuing the steps as they come. It's totally up to other people whether or not you get ordained if you even make it through seminary.
So my point is, take the steps as far as you can and see what happens. Could be that you'll end up being a great priest. Could be you'll end up being a deacon. Could be you won't be either one because you don't actually have the calling after all. The great thing is that once you start on the path, you'll have all kinds of help from those who are competent to assess your vocation. It won't be just that you think it's one way, it will be a consensus of all those priests, teachers, the bishop, etc. that you are really in the right place.
Destiny is just a buzz word for an idea that there is a plan already in place for you. Of course there is. You just don't know what that is, priesthood or otherwise.

I asked that very same thing when I was talking to God the other day. You may be surprised to hear he doesn't mind a bit. You want to be an accountant, a lawyer, a florist? That's fine with him.

The Church is running out of priests. But that's fine with Him, too. He's more concerned with people from the Church convincing you you got a calling. For the record, He says He doesn't do callings. So, the church guys are making it all up. Because why? They're running out of priests.

If you know God is calling you to a vocation, it doesn't make sense not to go with it; you'll feel like you're seriously missing out on life until you do. But you don't HAVE to become a priest; if you have a vocation, that's God telling you it's what will make you happiest in the long run, but he isn't going to force you to do it. He knows what will make you happiest though, so if you know you're called to the priesthood, it's only sensible to make that leap. I'm not saying it will be fun and games the whole time, but if you've got a vocation, you won't feel fulfilled as a person until you follow it.

I'm with Natassia. A relationship with God is personal and personally I'll stick to my own method.

If you have been called to be a priest in the Roman Church then ignoring it has been a sound move. The Roman church is based on Scriptural misinterpretation and fallible, heretical, Papal pronouncements.

What is your calling. Are you sure you have to be a priest. There are many other needs in the church, I don't care which church.

what is a calling in the spirit.... the purpose of our spirit is to unite us with nature... the world has undergone many changes these last several decades, spiritual healing is occuring and people are leaving religions and more spiritual healings occur.... we have been forced to see the spirituality of humanity limited to the religious dogma of the past... priesthood can only damage the spirit while the rest of the world is healing... think long and hard... if you have doubt, you have some truth left....

Thats where the fault lies. We, the believers of Jesus Christ are made to be a people of praise, Kings and Royal Priesthood and not Catholic priests or the Protestant pastors.

Get it ?
