You're dad won't be upset that you've got a job. I remember when i told my parents that i was thinking of taking the job i was doing when i was studying on full time - they seemed a little upset, but I did it anyway and now they're happy because it's not a bad job - i earn enough money to support myself, and they can see that i still love it nearly 5 years later.

Hi C6,
All parents have high expectations for their children. Your dad sent you to an expensive school with that idea in mind. So don't be surprised if he becomes disappointed with you. After all you drifted away from the path he chose for you. But it doesn't mean you should not see him. Go there and tell him the real story..You need not lie to your father, nor should you be afraid of him. He might be surprised, disappointed or even angry at 1st, but he's a father and in time, he will accept your decision. Don't be surprise if you suddenly receive an offer from a company through your dad's help. That's a father for you..Tough on the exterior, angry, screaming, disappointed but when he goes to bed at night, he will exhaust every means to help you out.

It is commendable that you are working at all. Jobs are hard to find. Keep looking in the field that you studied so hard to be in, and just tell your Dad the truth, that you have been unable to find anything along those lines as yet. I am sure he will understand, and perhaps he can give you some ideas as to what to do next. He will be proud of you for working at all, just do not give up your chosen field altogether, keep looking and the best of luck to a fine person.

I think he will be glad you at least got a job and arent working. You can still get a job in your field maybe. Just take a little break from looking for now then go back and start in again while you have this job. You have to survive and if he is a good business man he will understand that.

Your Father should be very proud of you for taking a job in another area while you are looking for a job in the field you studied for. So many people now a days seem to think that it is beneath them to accept work in a lower grade job than one they studied for. I admire you for taking the drug store job.

Let your dad know you have gainful employment and although it's not what you really want to do right now, it allows you to keep pursuing your dreams and goals.
Then - keep your head held high and don't let him get to you. Most people who graduate from college don't end up working in the field they studied for. Yet - they are happier for it. Follow your heart.

I don't think he will be disappointed. If he's the successful business man that wouldn't want you working at a drug store, then maybe he should offer you a job. Until then, I wouldn't worry about it. At least you are working somewhere it will not cost you your reputation or dignity. (You know pole dancers)
-Good luck.

Better it comes from you than someone telling him. He may get disappointed but at least you've got work and not idling.
