personally I do believe in evolution, and there are no religions that are based on the scientific fact that evolution is the true reason why all came to be, with the idea of natural selection. Is darwinism a religion or did it used to be? I just dont know,
I know that everyone believes in just about something, but it appears all are under the impression that a god created everything. To my understanding that is a primitive belief, but soon in humanities future all will come to mature to reality. its like the process in growing up for civilizations. I debated whether to go along, but just could not bear worshipping a god that doesnt exist. I am trying to find the religion that I believe to be based on a more logical theory. cannot be atheist, because they believe in nothing, cant be scientologist because of their alien probing stuff. I read of darwinism, but nothing indicates it s a religion. I dont like thinking in primitive ways, so I need to know it darwinism is a religion or not

darwinism is not a religion - merely a belief of the way certain creatures came to be the way they are.darwinism just involves believing the concepts that darwin taught to be true.

Social Darwinism is a philosophy based on applying the principles of natural selection to the human species. It influenced the eugenics movement of the early twentieth century, all based on pseudoscience and institutionalized racism.

Evolution is very different from social darwinism, and not a pseudoscience. Neither one is a religion. If you are looking for a religion that is the least irrational, I suggest buddhism or deism- the later includes a belief that a god created the universe but did not intervene afterward- though I do not believe this is the case, and some variants of the former do not include deities at all.

Atheism is simply the lack of belief in the supernatural. I believe in everything that exists -- from the big bang to the human condition -- it is not a bad system, nor a nihilistic one.

Darwinism believes that evolution is a product of random events and natural selection. It believes in a process that is devoid of God. Humans are NOT special. Humans are just another animal. Darwinism would say that YOU are an accident of random chance. You have no dignity, no special significance, no purpose other that to have sex and continue the species.

Some people say that Darwinism is a religion because it sets itself up as its own creator, and definer of the human condition. It give us our place in creation, and defines our purpose in life.

Darwinism is another way of saying you believe in evolution of the species [Charles Darwin's theories about adaptation of living things over time, including humans]. The science of evolution grew from the theories of Darwin in the late 19th century and has been reinforced by studies of fossils, old ocean beds, carbon-dating, and the exploration of space and the astronomers' increasing knowledge about birth of stars. The creationists loathe Darwin, preferring to believe in an earth that is only 4000-6000 years old...despite scientific proof to the contrary. The creationists believe that dinosaurs and man lived as contemporaries...and that it was Noah's flood which carved out the Grand Canyon. The new term for creationism is "intelligent design", and there are significant efforts being made by the religious right to make "ID" a scientific theory worthy of being taught in schools.

It is not a religion. It's a field of thought.

You do not need a religion to complete you. I too have struggled with this feeling. It is a flaw of humanity, probably whence religion came. People wanted something to believe in, so they made stuff up. It then grew into a cultural phenomenon.
Atheists do not believe in nothing, they do not believe in any god. Hence the name a-theist. A meaning anti and theist meaning god. Something along those lines.
Atheists are usually the smarter people who asked "hey. what the hell?" during church when they were young, and strayed away from the ridiculous ideas of fire and brimstone and all that jazz. There is no shame in being one.
I would suggest secular humanism. It's more of a philosophy that does not care for deity, and instead wants to know about people, and what they can do for each other.
Good luck on your search though.

Darwinism is a basic belief in the theory of evolution, it's not a religion. You don't worship Darwin's ideas you just believe in them. In 1859 Darwin wrote a book called, "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection." He basically said that species retain favorable traits as they evolve to become better. Kindof a 'use it or lose it' idea. (geting off topic, sorry) Rather than the bible you can believe that we crawled out of the primortial ooze and slowly evolved into the fantastic creatures we are today. Believeing in fairy tales is primitive. Accepting that we're just another animal that happened to evolve a bigger brain that allowed us to run this crazy planet is forward thinking. Face it, we're not special, not the product of divine creation, we're just the most evolved parasite in the gene pool.

Darwinism is a belittling term for the theory of evolution. Theists have the need to worship, and they project that on everyone else, as if evolutionists, or athiest (mind the e and i trading places), as they also like to call us, need to worship something, so atheism is a religion too, and relies just as much on faith as what they believe. They're always twisting and turning to sqeeze their own truth out of something when it just isn't there.

Darwinism is an outlook about the age and development of the Earth and life based upon the facts of evolutionary biology, genetics, geology, paleontology and allied sciences.

The theory of evolution is based upon facts and discoveries of fossils and other evidence of life in the geological strata.

*** To be sure, atheists can be spiritual. For instance, many Buddhists reject the existence of a deity. Atheism is simply the rejection of a supernatural deity, such as the Biblical god.

Charles Darwin was a Christian who wrote about the theory of evolution by natural selection. He was a scientist.

Atheists don't believe in nothing, they just don't believe in supernatural entities, such as gods. If you don't believe that gods exist, then you are an atheist.

Darwinism (evolution) is a scientific theory, not a religious belief.

Darwinism is not a religion. It is called that after the man named Darwin (thats his last name) who came up with the evolution theory.

Our world was created by God! No BIG BANG theory or evolution. If we evolved from monkeys, why arent we still doing that!??

God Bless You!
