My memere was recently put in the hospital. She cant easily digest the chewy, tough licorice she loves so much. Does anyone know of a licorice, or licorice-flavored candy that is easily digestible?

I once ate a tube of "liquid lollipop." It was cherry flavored... know if theres a licorice one???

Thanks so much, it would make her day.

black licorice or red? if it's black licorice, find anything ANISE flavored...that's what they flavor black licorice with.

Hmmm... I'm a big licorice fan, but everything I can think of has been super-chewy and tough.

You could try baking her something with anis seed and anis extract. Yum - tastes just like licorice. Hmmm - but most of the cookies I can think of now are also pretty hard.

Well - you could make springerle/chraebli/anisbroetli, but don't dry them. Just drop out spoonfuls and bake immediately; that way they'll be soft and cakey, and I think they'd be okay for your grandma. They're really simple, so probably easy on the stomach.

That's sweet of you! Good luck to you and your grandmother.

Try finding a licorice hard candy... or as the person above me said, any hard candy with ANISE flavoring... tastes the same, but it's "suckable", so it is easier to digest!

The link below sells some really yummy powder covered ones!

be careful and ask her dr. first. my mom is on some medicine where the chemical in licorice causes some side effect so she's not allowed it, also ask him if anise flavoered candy is allowed. i went to 2 sites. the first one has a gum drop recipe. you can substitute anise flavoring for the strawberry. the second has a licorice cupcake recipe.

if you have problems finding them, let me know and i'll e-mail you the copies that i printed out because they both sounded so good. i hope your grandma enjoys them and feels better soon

don't know where my brain was 12 hrs ago when i first answered. a salt walter taffy would be able to be made with anise flavoring too.

I know that some cough drops taste like licorice, they're usually really cheap and come in a little white box. I have a licorice addiction too and if i knew an exact name i wouldn't hesitate to tell you.

Anise ice cubes. Use a doppler to put one drop of anise extract per ice cube. Then Gramma can chew, suck or crush the ice cube in her mouth. It's not going to replace the real thing, but it may give her senses the flavor she has been craving.

Good luck with gramma.
