for one the male should have no problem getting busy at all! my dog ran off & by the time i caught up to her (not even 2 minutes) she was locked up with a mutt! you have to wait until she is over 18 months (it is really hard on a young dog to have pups since they are still growing themselves). you really need to research everything! its not just an easy hubby to jump into! theres a lot to know & not somethings you just ask on yahoo! it is actually not recommended by a vet to breed females since it can cause ovarian problems. i would ask your vet some questions first.

Why? Are you a serious dog breeder who's ready for this?
If you don't know where to start - it shows you haven't done much research on this - yes puppies are cute but they get very big - FAST. Are you planning on selling these pups -having the parents registered to an organization will help.....what I'm getting at is that there is so much too this. You don't seem too ready to me. There are already way too many dogs that don't have homes because too many stupid people thought they were cute as pups, but the second they got too big to handle , to the pound they went! Don't do that to any potential pup. As I said, if you aren't going into serious dog-breeding stop where you are, get both dogs fixed and enjoy them for the loving compainions that they are instead of the pups they could give you.

First, think ahead: what will you do with the puppies? Will you keep them? What if there's a large litter? We had a dog that had 9 puppies in one litter. How much room do you have in your house?

Who will buy the food for them? You? Do you have a job? Or do you live with your parents?

If you're going to give them away, do you have people lined up already to take them? If you don't have pedigree papers for the parents, you probably can't sell them.

Better yet, just have the dogs neutered, and be happy with the 2 of them. Two big dogs are a lot of work to take care of, and just the basic annual vet care can be expensive. Exams, heart worm treatment, flea treatment, etc.

My advice is to stick to the 2 dogs, and be happy.

Um i would say don't. Wait a while.
Because the world really needs less puppies there are thousands that need homes. I would say get a female have her for ,aybe a year or two wait tell you are older she is older then get a male or just ask a breeder about having your dog maiting with one her males. Plus many female dogs die because the owners are not very good with the pregnacy and the dog either dies while giving birth or later on. I say wait till you know what you are doing.

Personally I think if you have to ask, you shouldn't be breeding dogs. Why do you want to breed them? Do you realize they might have as many as 10 pups? Is there a demand in your area for that breed? Do you have a good set up to keep 10 puppies for 6 to 8 weeks? Money to pay for worming and shots?
They will not breed if the female isn't in heat, dogs don't just breed anytime. Do your research.

Your goal in life is to be a back yard breeder or are these dogs already fully health tested and titled in confirmation, obedience, agility etc.?

A male and a female dog left together WILL mate. They don't really need any help.

Before they mate do not let the male mate with her until she is at least 18 months old. You need to all so x ray both dogs hips and elbows before you let them breed to make sure they have no hip or elbow displacia.

she has to go in heat first, the rest will be natural. Just make sure no other dogs will have access to her, when she is in heat, other dogs will be able to smell it blocks away. They'll know what to do.

you cant make two animals mate, they will either be attracted to each other or they won't, would you like it if your parents made you have a babie with some one?
