I have had my cat for over 3 years. She has always been quite low maintenance. Never had a problem with her tearing things up or peeing where she shouldn't. About the time my boyfriend started staying over frequently, and now that he has moved in, she pees on the bed weekly. Usually on his side. And I noticed after I started keeping her out of my bedroom, she started peeing on my guest bed too. What can I do about this? I am very attached to this animal, but also very attached to my stuff. I just bought a new temper pedic bed, and I really would be mad if she pissed on it. Someone please help!

your cat is jealous, my cat got jealous also when my boyfriend moved in(now hes an ex boyfriend) my cat kisses would turn his back to me, he wouldn't sleep in my lap anymore, just basically ignored me for a while. But eventually kisses warmed up to the bf. Tell your bf to talk to the cat and try to win her over, have your bf feed her, give the treats, do the gd stuff for her.
hopefully your cat excepts him in the future
hope this helped

She is jealous at the very least. Hopefully that is all it is. Is this boyfriend mean to her or does he tease her? You may have to just keep all bedroom doors shut for a while. It would be hard to do this but it does work...feeding a cat in a spot that they are peeing in almost always stops the problem. It would be dificult to put food and water in the middle of the bed though and if she is jealous, it might not stop the problem. You can buy something called a scat mat. It is plugged into the wall or can run on batteries. You just put it on the spot the cat is peeing on and when they jump on it, it gives them a little shock. I had to use one for a while because one of my cats started peeing on one of my stepsons beds. The cat just plain didn't like him. It just took a couple shocks and that was the end of it. Scat mats are a bit expensive but they really do work.

Put plastic over the bed quilt when you're not sleeping there. A shower curtain or a plastic table cloth works.

She's showing displeasure at his being there. I was lucky in that ours glared at my bf over the side of the bed but didn't pee--she looked daggers at him any time he wasn't looking at her and hated the fact he was there, but after two months she started scent marking his shoes with the side of her face and then he was 'ok'.

Yours could probably benefit with some Rescue Remedy flower essence, which makes cats feel calm in stressful situations (your bf has 'invaded' and she can't get rid of him), or you can get a bottle of Feliway which is a natural pheromone that calms cats. Either one would be a good idea to help get rid of stress and make her feel more comfortable.

At the VERY LEAST get one of those plastic liners that go under the sheets, JUST IN CASE the pee goes through everything. That'll save your mattress! Also if you have any 'leakage' on your own menst. cycle (been there, done that!). It's a lifesaver to have that thing on the mattress, I'll tell you!

she is, well, pissed. You have moved her out of her rightful territory. In her mind, you have replaced her with this boy and now she will show you who is boss!! LOL. I know it isn't funny, my cat did the same thing when i tried to add another cat to the family---it was easy for me, i just returned the second cat and life resumed as before. Whenever a cat toilets in an unusual place and there is no medical problem, it is behavioral and therefore contains a message---the cat is mad and wants the guy to leave. I do not know how to solve this. Maybe some behavior mod with a spray bottle??

She feel threatened of this "newcomer" who is taking all of your attention, the attention that she use to have.
You, and the house are her territory and she does not want to part with it.
Its just a matter of trust, your boyfriend needs to be around the cat more and maybe given the chore of feeding her (he may hate this but it will eventually earn her trust).
You have to show her your boss tho by putting her outside at certain times. Make your bedroom off limits by closing the door. Open the window if fresh air is needed but only if you have a fly screen so she cant jump in!
Dont ignore her tho, and still play with her and pat her or she will feel even more left out and be worse than what she is.
Good luck and i hope this helps

She is either jealous of the guy or there is a medical problem that she is trying to tell you about. She could have a uninary tract infection. Get her to the vet first to find out if its medically related. If not you know it is pure jealously and you must either work through it with her or give up your beloved pet for a guy? If its jealousy maybe if he gives her some attention and trys to be friends with the cat that will help.

To me it sounds like she's very territorial..... my cat did that when i got a new cat, and when my mom's boyfriend moved in. She is just used to you, and sleeping and all of a sudden a new person is sleeping with you and she probably is trying to get him out. but don't worry too much about it. she will get used to him and for that new bed, i would keep her out of that room until she stops peeing in the house.

Might be telling you that hes not the one. :P If your boyfriend has had a cat before or rubed up against his clothes your cat could be thinking there is another cat in the house and maybe marking his territory.

Sounds like she is jealous...try giving her extra attention!

Let her sleep with you and pet her an soothe her...talk lovingly to her...etc...Good luck

Also try playing with her a bit more during the day

it may take her a while to get used to him....give her a bit of time....really! Good luck and try and be patient

When she uses the litter box....praise her....GOOD KITTY...you know use a really sweet voice and give her a Kitty Treat
