You can't stop magpies from swooping, the best thing to do is to avoid the areas you know where magpies swoop. I go jogging every day and I know where all the spots are so I just change my route between August and November. I also wear sunglasses and a hat.

You can get a basball hat and get those googly eyes you know the craft ones that move around they have really big ones which will be perfect and attach them to the top of your hat, or at the back of it or cover the whold hat!! Magpies will not swoop if they can see eyes and that is why they swoop from behind the cowards!! Attach them to your hat and wear it they won't swoop I have seen this myself you get a bike helmet and you know those plastic ties they are long and have a little thing at the end of one side to thread through
try gardening section or hardware and thread them through the vents and secure so the ends are sticking up!!
hope that helps!!!

Hats do work with stuck on eyes, but what wr always used when we where children were 4 litre ice creams containers that we drew on the back big black eyes. This really does work. Sometimes you cant keep away from their nest, especially if you are walking past to go to school. Feeding them, and getting them to know you doesnt always seem to work either. If it becomes a serious problem you may need to call your local council and have them relocated. Hopefully it wont come to that. Remember they are only trying to protect their young, and they may think of you as threat. If it is a route that you take to go somewhere, why not take an alternative one, until the spring season in over. Good luck

Wear a hat backwards they usually wont swoop if you are looking at them as the hat look like your looking at them they wont swoop but really aggressive magpies will swoop whatever, don't ride your bike near their nest and try walking on the opposite side of the road. i found carrying a large stick above your head prevents them swooping also.
good louck staywing away from those maggies.!!!!

I know sometimes it is impossible to keep away from their nests. I have two get through a garden full of gum trees to get to my gym, and they always swoop me. I put my hoodie on so if they swoop they can't actually grab at my hair with their feet, and also so my ears and face are protected because they can scratch and cut you. I also (and this is a bit ridiculous) walk holding my gym bag on top of my head. I look crazy but they have stopped swooping me.

I would suggest wearing a hood and glasses, wearing something on top of your head as others have suggested and lastly - if you are really scared - put your bag on your head, or walk under an umbrella.

Hope that helps!

when outside wear a hat that is hard and comfortable and if not a hat carry a umbrella or a stick and when magpie swoops wave the before items around as it is a deterrent

magpies will only swoop you if you are looking away from them so they can peck you on the back of the head. the only way you can prevent them from swooping you is to look at them and walk away backwards. they swoop because you are near their nest so gradually you will be a safe distance away to walk normal again.

they did a study awhile back and a man that wore a hat with pretend eyes on the back of it didn't get swooped, interesting huh.

Definitely do NOT look at them - they can and will go for the eyes. I wore the ice-cream helmet as a child but now I'm a bit more self-conscious in public and I have a nice tough Akubra hat. If I don't have it with me I use an umbrella or I even wave around a rolled up newspaper.
