My mom was watching the Speed Report today and I guess they said Robert Yates gave up the 38 for Jr. Is this really true? I haven't heard from anywhere and want to know if she is telling the truth.

What they said was that Robert Yates had spoken to NASCAR about a deal with HMS for the number 38. Nothing official, but sounds like it could be true. Yates can probably use the money and has no big monetary/emotional interest in the 38 that I am aware of.
The Speed Report re-airs later tonight and again tomorow morning so you can hear it for yourself.

I haven't seen or heard anything about it and I'm a big Yates fan.
Maybe if this does happen Robert will go back to using the #28

I just checked NASCAR.com and there is nothing on there about his number. There is a good article about him defending Theresa. He is not happy with the media because they are really on her for not giving up the 8. He says he is disappointed about not being able to take the number to HMS, but he is moving on and wants everyone else to do the same.
I am very interested to hear what number he will have next year, last I heard it was the 81 car, but who knows!

It would be funny if there wasn't an 8 in the number. Then the Jr. fans with number 8 tattoos would look even stupider.

I heard that on the speed report tonight...I'd rather see the 81, maybe 83... The number game still goes on...I will be a Dale Jr fan whatever number he drives...whatever that number is Dale Jr make it your own...and go out there next yr and win baby win.......Go Dale Jr Go....

It is a rumor going through the garage, that he might give up the number. I'm sure the rumors will circulate in the am.

If it's true, they're the ONLY ones reporting it. And I don't think that that would be the case. It's no where else.
