Would you rather be a Catholic or an Atheist! I'm Catholic and I don't see how a lot of people would rather be an Atheist and deny God than believe in God (whom is obviously very real)!

Is that our only two choices?

"Obviously very real"? And where is this astounding, undeniable proof you have?

Christian. God is obviously real to everyone who chooses to believe in Him. There is nothing more fulfilling than having a personal relationship with God, and if you are an atheist there is no way to explain that to you. God is love; therefore God can't be forced.

Also, being a "Catholic" or "Christian" doesn't mean going to church every Sunday and doing things because you're expected to. I go to church every Sunday, but that's because the church is the house of God and I get something out of it. Not everyone does. Some people are too caught up in the craziness of life to talk to Jesus.

I was brought up Catholic and became an Atheist/Agnostic. Not because the cooler people are Atheists, but because I didn't agree with all the things I was taught and forced to believe as a Catholic.

NO MORE *DRINK*, NOW YOU GET THE TOP TEN LIST...

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

If you think that God is obviously real, that you can perceive God with you senses, that God has a personal relationship with you and responds to your prayers, then you are suffering from delusions. If you don't believe me, look up delusional disorders in the DSM.

I am an Atheist because I prefer not to be delusional whenever possible.

It is not true that god is obviously real. That is something that is debated. There are some people who require to be shown the evidence that supports the existence of your god.

If it is so obvious, I am sure you will have no problem providing that evidence.

I would rather be a rational thinking human.

Oh, an atheist definitely. It is SO much easier to shop at Kroger on a Sunday morning with all the godly people in their brainwashing stalls.

Obvious
1. easy to see: easy to see or understand because not concealed, difficult, or ambiguous
2. unsubtle: lacking subtlety or any attempt at concealment

I think not.

I was rasied as a Catholic, but have always been an atheist.

Btw, why are you asking atheists questions? Don't you know we are all too "stubborn" and "ignorant" to answer you? Those were you words, yes? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Alt.xUkydBrWesZKxGjqZqrsy6IX?qid=20070826175253AAGy0cy&show=7#profile-info-9961a4fda02d0241974fd4e74d5ad8aeaa

Sorry, I'd rather be an Atheist. I stopped believing in imaginary creatures a long time ago.

Atheist.

I'm thinking that this isn't the answer you were looking for, but god isn't "obviously very real" for me, considering theres no real proof for him.

Key word being: "obviously real". Nice try. But to answer your question, I am an Atheist. I don't have to explain why.
