If God created it, then who created God?
If we need an intelligent designer, wouldn't he need to be even more well designed than anything else? Would an even more well-designed designer design THAT designer? Ad nauseum....
Edit: If God can just exist by himself, unexplainable, then why can't the universe?

Science--why not change your name---In the beginning God, does your science tell you when that beginning began? No it does not but if you take the dates Science has given us--the Universe is 13.5 billion years old. Hmmm, that would make a good beginning. Now the Earth is suppose to be 4.5 billion years old and this is the earth of the Genesis story. Life began about 2 billion years ago but did you know that all life--any life stopped somewhere in the time frame of 65 million years ago---why? Glad you ask---geologist recently published an article concerning the two great floods that affected Earth--the Universal flood of about 65 million years ago and the global flood of just 4500 years ago, there about. How is this for a twist--the bible confirms the information given by the geologist. Read verse two of Genesis 1. "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the waters." And the earth was without form---which earth--the one created in the beginning, not the earth without form that is about to be made into a new earth---same material but a vast difference in time---look, isn't it surprising this earth without form had no life--it was void and it was in darkness and floating around in water---a universal lake so to speak or would that be ocean. Not enough? Okay look at the fourth day--God tells the animals to be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth---that is a big do it again folks. Look at day sixth--God has just created man in his own image--he tells them to be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth---do it again folks. Your bubble has been checkmated---You live most likely on Earth II a new creation using old matter. It is call the Gap Theory--over 400 years old, older than evolution theory.

I don't know. The universe, in some ways, may be beyond our comprehension. It may be impossible to know what came before the big bang. Billions of years from now, when most stars have ceased fusion, intelligent civilizations may be only able to discern a few stars in the sky, ignorant of the real scale of our universe.
"Not knowing" does not translate into "god did it," only that some questions may be impossible to answer. It does not make sense to believe that an intelligence "created" the universe, as this conclusion is based on a human perspective. We create things for a purpose, but that does not mean that the universe operates on human principles.
What is the purpose of a universe that is 99% uninhabitable, where galaxies collide on a regular basis and stars engulf their planetary systems? Maybe a firework show, lol? :-)

There are basically two possible beliefs regarding the existence of the universe.
1) That the universe has always existed with no creator.
2) That God has always existed, who has no creator, and HE created the universe.
And perhaps a third, but absurd belief that some atheists throw around: That there is no God, and that there was a point in which matter didn't exist, and then for no reason, out of nowhere, it just popped into existence.
I think #2, at the very least, is the least absurd of the three.

Your assumption that the universe was created is flawed.
If we cannot answer what is out there and what is the end of the universe, it would NOT be LOGICAL to assume that some god must have done it. The more truthful answer would be that we do not yet know.
If you do not know where your car keys are, do you assume that god hid them? If so, what chance do you as a human have of finding them? Do you then go to the expense of having new keys made?
I think not.

Hi, Trustee:
You must realize that it is only by God's Spirit that someone can proclaim Jesus is Lord, and that same Spirit gives spiritual discernment on who our Creator is.
The astronomer Hale, noticed many decades ago that the red-shift shows that our galaxy is in the middel of all the known universe. Everything is moving away from us, the CENTER.
This tells us that God knew in advance that Earth would become a fallen planet, and need redemption. That plan required God to sacrifice Himself for us, to redeem fallen man and His fallen planet. Earth will ultimately be the New Heaven--the new Captiol--as the Holy City settles with Jesus, the "last Adam", the new ruler.
There is more on this as God reveals the plan to save this planet, gives the timing of the Cosmic Conflict, and identifies Antichrist in a "sealed" Bible code. See http://abiblecode.tripod.com. Read all five chapters.
Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

Dear Trustee,
There's not other than God the creator and the Governor of the universe.
All creations by God are temporary. Everything will end. God create men. God appointed men to be agent on earth. Men was not from earth. Adam and Eve start human on earth sent by God. Never boost. Human being come and go generation after generation. Noah ( Noah of Ark) was the one from God abolish all pagans. All worship God. 160 of them. From there spread to every parts of the earth become races and later become races and speaks languages and later one race and one nation. Back to the same. Denied God. (There no word 'earth' in English. Earth is an Arabic word). In the early science, most inventor are Arab such as Abu Sina (Avencina). The west put a great study and create new inventions. No other than God can create the Universe. Can we make a star and hang it in galaxy. If can, How?. Any kind of transport to the galaxy to hang the star. We should think. We are generation living on earth at the average of 75 years. Example on knowledge of God: all the seas as ink and all trees as pen, write down the knowledge of God!!!!!. all the seas dried and all trees finish, we can never finish writing down the knowledge of God. Can you count the Stars at the Galaxy?. Our generation will go on. The earth is old. There's no more prophet to lead us. The last prophet and the last messenger of God Muhammad bin Abdullah s.a.w., brought the religion ISLAM and left Scriptures the Holy Koran and Hadiths for Islam to use. Sooner or later the world end. That's the truth. Death is truth. Nobody can get away from death. The day of Judgment is truth. Hell and Heaven is truth. End of the world is truth. The time will come. Sooner or later. Any creation will be gone. All creations are no permanent. Never denied the exist of God the creator and the governor of the universe.
That's my answer to your questions in short.

If our minds were more advanced and we could understand everything that went on in the universe, then your theory would make sense. But they aren't, and we don't. Why the universe operates the way it does, where the matter and energy in the universe came from, these things are, for now, beyond us. And resorting to myth to explain things you don't understand is what man has been doing for all our time on this planet. What makes your myth the right one?

Ah, the old god of the gaps. "we don't understand how it happened, so a wizard must have done it, specifically the god I believe in".
We don't know everything about the big bang. As for evolution, DNA, etc - those things are known.

I'm not sure if God created the universe with a big bang, but one things for sure, it's going out with one...
2 Peter 3:10. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
