When I was in school we were taught english by the school principal himself. With regard to writing essays he would always emphasise that we should never loose the point and pad the essay and make it wordy just to make it seem long . He would always quote this saying to us:
'' Words are like leaves, and where they most abound,
much fruit of sense is rarely found''
