Do you think you actually saw Jesus the man many people consider to be the Messiah and son of the so-called god of the universe? Or did you see my friend, Jesus Sanchez?

Regardless, there is no such thing as sin since there is no such thing as god. If there is no such thing as god, there cannot be such a thing as universal truth.

This is one of the reasons that religion makes a poor source of morality.

If you're behaving in such a way as to please your God, you are not evaluating the action, but instead evaluating the reaction of your authority figure, i.e., God.

Atheistic morality, however, takes a look at the action. If you were telling Jesus that you didn't like his haircut because you feared his wrath, then it was probably dishonest, but your reason was self-preservation. The question you then need to ask was whether your fears were reasonable. If not, you should re-assess your actions.

If on the other hand, you were lying to protect Jesus' feelings, and you don't think it will hurt his chances for getting a job with the Baltimore Orioles, then you've probably done the right thing. After all, how many times will you have to look at those hideous locks before it's time to get another haricut?

Yes all lies are Sin. Yes we have all fallen short and still sin and need God's redemption. People don't jump head long into sin they start with small steps. Each time you cross the line you become less sensitive tho the Holy Spirit which is in you. Next time just say that is an interesting Hair cut.

If we review the 10 Commandments with our heart, we might come to the conclusion that:

It is a "sin" to (unfairly) hurt someone. Once we acknowledge that, ........ it is easy to know what is a "sin".

An example of of it being a "sin" to lie is not quite biblical. The Commandment on the subject was "It is a 'sin' to bare false witness against someone." -- why was that listed as a "sin"? .......... cause it would (unfairly) hurt someone.

When my husband tells me I am the most beautiful woman in the world, is that a "sin"?, of course not. And believe me, it is not the truth. - smiles

So, when Jesus asked you about his hair cut (style), it didn't hurt to "lie" ..... Ergo, it was not a sin.

My husband, the big ape, knows you, and knows that you would never intentionally unfairly hurt someone. - Ergo, you sin less than the "you know whats" that tell us we sin cause we don't agree with them. -- smiles again.

Yes. An untruth is what it is... not true.
However, there are ways to answer questions nicely without lying. If someone asks me a similar question, I might answer with another question, like "oh, yeah, you did get your hair cut! Where did you go?" or "Do you like it shorter or longer?" You can try to steer the subject to change it and avoid the answer, thus avoiding the lie. If you do have to answer, do it in a kind way, like "you always look good, but I love your hair long." That way, you are telling the truth and not hurting feelings.

I think not like His Divine Haircut is a sin in the first place, so you sinned twice.

But his hair is kinda long... he looks like a hippie.

Under the tenets of the 10 commandments the mis-truth has to put a person in grave danger. The lie must deprive them of life, liberty, property, respect, fame or honor.
