Most Christians I know believe that God sees all sin equally. Meaning the sin committed by a lier is of equal value as the sin committed by a killer. Christians believe that belief in Christ clenses you of these sins, whatever they may be. In this case, God sees homosexuality as a forgivable sin, as well as child molestation. As I understand it, this view is not shared by the entire Christian population, though many do preach it.
To many Christians, God is an enigma, and cannot be completely understood. When a crime is committed in our eyes, we naturally judge the severity of what was done, while God only sees sin. As for why homosexuals takes precedent over child molesters in the Bible, I don't know. The Bible was written over thousands of years by many many hands. The reasoning behind the wording differs depending on who you talk to.
I hope this helped!

Homosexuality is the perversion of human sexuality. Nothing good or healthy comes out of homosexual behavior. In fact, it stands in defiance of life, and creating life. Satan, being a murder from the beginning encourages any and all behavior against life, and the creation of it. Homosexuality being a major weapon in his arsenal.
Molesting a child is just as bad if not worse than homosexuality. I say this because abuse to a child can damage the sexual and emotional development of a child in a manner that they cannot control.
The Bible does not contain all that God teaches. Fundamentalist Christians may believe this but 2000 Years of Catholic Tradition teaches that all that Jesus taught could not be contained in books. A well formed conscience is all that is needed to recognize the evil and wrong of both these acts.
Both have lasting consequences that produce a rippling effect of sin and damage that ultimately enslaves a person and/or puts them under sever diabolical oppression.
BTW; One of the prerequisites for committing a mortal sin (one that can damn you) is knowing it's wrong, and fully "consenting" to do the act anyway. While both homosexuality and child molestation are mortal sins, they differ in type and severity. Whether or not God sees it differently is not up to me.

The Bible nowhere speaks specifically of child molestation. Instead both the Law of Moses and the New Testament deal with sexuality in broader terms. The law of the Jews condemns various incestuous relationships, which would include child molestation by a parent. (Leviticus 18) It also deals with rape (Deuteronomy 22), homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22), adultery (Leviticus 18:20), and sexual relations outside marriage (Deuteronomy 22). All those topics include improper sexual relations with a child.
In the New Testament we find similar passages. Romans 1 talks against sexual sin 'against nature'. He also talks about adultery, and an implied condemnation of other sins including child molestation. The writer of Hebrews says the marriage bed should be undefiled (Hebrews 13:4), which would include this as well as adultery and fornication. In Ephesians (6:4) and Colossians (3:21) Paul addresses parent-child relationships, which would also rule out incest.
The Bible is not a book of rules for each possible situation, but is a guideline for living in general. The summation of the Law and prophets, according to the rabbis including Jesus, is "love God with all your heart, and soul, and mind" and "love your neighbor as yourself." If we constantly think of the best for God and others we won't be involved in such harmful acts as child molestation.
I'd like to add, as well, that according to Jesus ANY behavior that purposely causes harm to a child is an unforgivable sin. It would be better, says Jesus, to have a millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the ocean, than to harm a child.
I'd say that makes it pretty clear...

Homosexuality and Child Molestation are equal sins. Only God knows why He didn't want that in there. But why stop there- why not killing of Dolphins? why not Raising attack dogs just for sport fighting? This could be a never ending debate. God gave us the Bible as a guide of how to live our lives. Anyone can knit pick at it and find something that is not in there.

Not sure, but remember people were marrying at the age of puberty in those days so at lot more stuff is defined as child molestation in Western Culture today than at that point time.
Also, in general, the furor of child sex only began this century or so... and, of course, homosexuality according to most of the Bible is an abomination, not a harmless consensual act between two adults.

Jesus said in Luke 17:2 "It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones."
There you have it. Jesus, our creator (John 1:1) says it all right there. Child molestation is a sin!
Also read Leviticus 18, and Romans 1:18 - 32!
And for those of you that say that Christians think that sex is evil? WRONG! Sex was created to be between a man and woman for the marriage bed ONLY!
Either way you look, sin is sin! And the only way you can remove sin in your life is to recieve Jesus as your LORD and saviour just by praying and asking Jesus to come into your heart, and forgive you of your sins!

Hi, Desiree:
The Bible has some sins that demanded the immediate execution of the perpertrator. Fornicatators, whether consenting or child molestation was part of that plan. Considering homosexuality, there are examples of God's dealings with that; in fact, the Bible tells us that is one reason God destroyed the people out of Palestine for Israel's inhabitants.
The Bible says all (unrepentant) sinners will meet justice: Exodus 34:7 "...And.. [God] will by no means clear [the guilty]."
If you need Bible verses on God's judgments, I'll be glad to answer an e-mail.
Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

The bible is not one book. Thats important. It does not have one author but many. We don't know for sure that all of the NT is authentic.
For instance, the author claiming to be Paul of Tarsus wrote all the contraversial discriminations in the bible. Non of the Gosples mention
1) Women being unsuitable for priesthood
2) Homosexuality as a sin
It is likely that either
Paul was seeking to corrupt christianity with patriachal Jewish tradition.
or
Someone forged or corrupted Pauls writings
or
Someone saught to discredit Paul

Obviously I am not God, but if I had to speculate, I would think that with all of the perspective in the world, why would it suddenly be lost on crimes against humanity. I dont even know if God views it that way anymore. Todays homos live in relationships, where it would seem that back when the bible was written it was all about degenerate sex.

The term "child molestation" was not used in the days when King James had the translators do their thing. And for many centuries, it was legal for a person to be married quite young, so even though we would call them children today, they were accepted as adults. Remember that a Jew is considered an adult as of his Bar Mitzvah, which is at 13. And for girls it is 12. So she would not be considered a child for the purposes of someone who used her sexually. It was still wrong, of course, if it was forced, but it would not be called child molestation.
