Grumpy old man, I didn't like Huckabee either, he pretends to be for protecting the borders, but he is not. They are all scrambling to be THE illegal immigration savior candidate now that they know that 85% of the American people do not want them here. It is laughable...it really is. From a fellow Arkansan.

Hey, Chicano, I already clean my own house, mow my own lawn, etc. I worked at a fast food place when I was a teen-ager. Do you seriously think that you Latinos are making America? It is the true Americans like us you dolt. Go back to Mexico.

If all the illegal aliens left this country, the economy would be in great shape.
People have no idea how many freebie give-away welfare-by-another-name programs there are, that are paid for out of our tax dollars. Literally thousands. Some states call it "aid to migrant workers", or "aid to immigrant families who don't qualify for welfare because of legal status" etc, there are thousands of programs in many states which bleed our coffers dry. All set up to give welfare to illegal aliens. It's just sickening.

edit: as a note to chicano, I happen to be a collector of old photographs and out of print books, including history books, mostly about the western and southwest states, and I have thousands of photos and books about early California, many of which cover subjects on agriculture and labor from the 1800s to the 1950s.
In all the photos in my collection, and all the photos in all the books, among pictures of workers in the fields and orchards, workers in the factories, workers doing every job in the southwest and western states, there is hardly 2 hispanic faces. There are thousands of pictures of white, black, and asian workers, picking fruit and vegitables, factory workers lined up for group shots at every conceivable kind of factory, ditch diggers, men building roads, construction workers, building bridges and high rises, men working on every railroad, hotel workers, kitchen workers, food service workers, machine shop workers, mechanics, you name it I have photos of it..........and no hispanic faces, except one or two among the tuna packers during World War II.

Why do you think that is?
It's because there were no Mexican or hispanic workers in California or any other state west of the Mississippi doing any kind of work at all.

Help The $80 billion that is wired out of the country every year would stay and be spent here. There would be over 7 million jobs available to americans. Who would pay taxes and not be on welfare. There wouldn't be 4-5 million anchor babies on Welfare, WIC, free school Brk & lunch programs. There would be 12-20 million less people taking advantage of "free" ER care. There would be less children in our public schools. NO ESL classes to pay for. IMMIGRANTS, legal & illegal, paid about $9 billion into Soc Sec over an 8 YEAR period and MAY keep Soc Sec afloat 4 years longer. WE wouldn't be paying $3 million a day to incarcerate convicted illegal criminals. We wouldn't be paying millions in court & atty fees We wouldn't be paying $12 billion a year in border security

We'll save all the money the federal government gives LaRaza.
Remember when 180 illegals were arrested at the Swift meat packing plant, 400 citizens showed up the next day to apply for the jobs.
When I got laid off, I worked as a cleaning lady at the company I was laid off from.(I even cleaned my old office) This white woman cleaned lots of toilets. There is no job an American won't do, that's just another lie that justifies the presence of illegal aliens.

There may be some short term issues, especially in the agriculture business but that is what work visa's are for.

People seem to be unaware that illegal immigrants are using public services on a daily basis. As to Welfare, I am not certain, my understanding is that it is up to the individual state to clarify if they choose to help illegal immigrants (or not).

Some of the power needs to be restored to the average Joe as to how this government is run, as it stands now the major corporations are pulling the strings to the puppets we call leaders.

The notion that the United States receives a net economic benefit from illegal immigration is often cited in an attempt to minimize the problem.

After all, the argument goes, we receive enormous economic benefit from these "willing workers" who fill jobs that Americans don't want. This justification is largely a myth. Illegal immigration may benefit a few citizens, but it hurts many more.

As we consider the economic impact of illegal immigration, we should acknowledge that there are many reasons other than the economy that should encourage us to solve this problem. Most people recognize that illegal immigration is unfair to tax-paying citizens and unfair to legal immigrants who wait their turn in line. Further, the United States is a nation built on the rule of law, and failure by the government to enforce immigration laws is a dangerous lesson that law in general may be selectively enforced or obeyed.

There are now approximately 3 million illegal immigrants in California, not including the children of illegal immigrants who are born here and who thus are U.S. citizens.

Now to the myths:

Myth 1: Most illegal immigration is agriculture related. In fact, the majority of illegal immigrants live in urban areas and compete for jobs with working-class California families. For those who are here for agricultural labor, many Californians would gladly consider a seasonal "guest worker" program that included genuine border security.

Myth 2: Illegal immigrants work only jobs citizens wouldn't. In fact, most illegal immigrants are competing directly with America's most vulnerable citizens: our working poor and those with less education and skills.

Studies demonstrate that between 1980 and 2000, the overabundance of immigrant labor has decreased the average yearly earnings of citizens by $1,700, or 4 percent. Worse, citizens without a high school diploma have experienced a 7.4 percent decrease in their earnings directly attributable to this competition.

Myth 3: Illegal immigration is a net economic benefit. In fact, while some employers are making more money and some products are cheaper because of illegal labor, it is the taxpayer who pays for illegal labor's health care, education and law enforcement bills. In California this bill adds up to $10.5 billion a year in state taxpayers' money, or more than $1,400 for a family of four.

Furthermore, the data show that any taxes paid by illegal immigrants are outweighed by their costs. Education is the most expensive: Billions of dollars every year are spent to educate the children of illegal immigrants, most without English language skills, in increasingly overcrowded schools.

Health care in California is in crisis, with hospital emergency rooms (used extensively by illegal immigrants for basic health care services) closing at an alarming rate. And our penal system is overburdened. The cost this year simply to house the tens of thousands of illegal immigrant criminals is in excess of $734 million.

Let's put an end to the myths. Illegal immigration is not an economic gain to the vast majority of Americans.

It would be different if Mexicans actually read English. They can't read their medicine bottles, read simple directions on anything unless it's in Spanish.
This does not make them skilled workers. It makes them adults who are as literate as 5 year olds!

The one thing they do understand is HOW TO GET THOSE FREE Benefits. They could manage to do that if they were written in ancient Sandskrit!
