I'm a Christian, you'd think I'd be biased, but the Wiccan/Pagan people are the nicest and most tolerant people here, and they're the most interesting. There's too many militant atheists and too many fundamentalists causing trouble here, the Wiccans/Pagans offer a nice respite from that.

I have to agree with you as well. While there are always exceptions to everything, and in every large group of people there are always a couple bad ones, for the most part Pagans tend to be more tolerant and respectful of other peoples beliefs. This does not always mean that we have to put up with intolerant idiots, and many Pagans will stand up for their beliefs when they need to, but they do not push their beliefs on other people or attack them for having beliefs that differ from theirs.

It's funny, I was a pagan for a while, and I was much more tolerant of other religions than I am now that I identify as an atheist. (I still try to be tolerant of people, but maybe I should say I'm more harsh on the religions themselves.) Maybe it was because I still had some respect for my own beliefs. Or because I was more sensitive to the criticism I myself got for being pagan. Not that I don't get criticism for being an atheist!

Speaking as the husband of a Wiccan lady I can say that this is the truth.
She puts up with a lot, jokes included, and doesn't lash out.
I wonder why Wiccans are so much better at living the "turn the other cheek" rule than christians are?

Right on - let's hope that example carries on!!! Just this evening I read a "question" that wasn't - it was, in fact, a ten-part "what to do about Pagans" list, from seeing that we get fired to killing us outright, *shakes head* and what we've done to deserve ANY of that I'll never know - I suspect what it comes down to is respect for other Traditions, and THAT I think comes from so many of us having been raised with other beliefs to start with - lends an air of understanding when it comes to spiritual questing.......
I saw your question and had to smile - absolutely beautiful energy there! Blessed Be~

Well, I have to say that's mostly true...though there are exceptions.
But I think its because our beliefs are based on tolerance for others' freedoms...if we didn't believe that, than we wouldn't really be Wiccans or pagans, we;d just be borrowing the names.
That's not as eloquently said as I'd like, but my brain's a little muddled today...

That's probably the main concept that drew me to Wicca in the first place ~ the acceptance of all types of people, and the reluctance to try and convert anyone. We never say that anyone else is going to hell because they don't believe what we believe. We never go out trying to get people to convert to our way of thinking. We know that everyone is doing the best they can do, and we don't put anyone down for any belief that they have. I wish all religions were that way.

I agree, Wiccans and Pagans seem very helpful and thoughtful. They don't feel the need to put other religions down to make theirs seem more superior

It's a stereotype, but it's a "true" stereotype that wiccans tend to be laid back, cool people who take a "live and let live" attitude...lol. I'm not personally a wicca type guy, but I have friends who are. We share an interest in the same varieties of herbs.
