Needing there to be a God to make life seem more meaningful or yourself seem more special
Taking an honest look at life and deciding that theism is the best explanation (least common)
Not being able to explain life without the presence of some omnipotent magic man

fear of death...
weird stuff happening such as:
I have a heart problem and when it looked like I was going to need my last heart sugery way early ( ive had three) my mother said a novena for me. the doc told us afterword that in all his life he'd never seen such a radical change in EKG readings! I had the devil breathing up my butt one day and free and clear then next. I dont believe in organized religieon but I know SOMETHING is out there..

The main motivation is that your will go to paradise, on earth or in heaven, if you believe in the Son. The alternative is a lake which burns with fire and brimstone, and where the worm that eats you "never dies".

Don't have to fear death.
You have an imaginary friend to turn to, someone who sees, cares, & understands you.
