What is the nature of evil?

Is it an attritubute certain individuals, like Hitler, are born with,: or is it circumstantial, so that we are all capable of doing horrible things to other people.? Are some towns or locations influenced by an evil spirit? Can an organization or even a church be evil? If it is circumstantial, what conditions cause evil to flourish?

The nature of evil is rooted in " selfishness at the expense of others". More people of this same attribute gathered anywhere, achurch, an organization, or a town etc. make evil flourish.

Everyone is going to have thier own opinion so heres mine, I think the whole hip hop culture has brought to society an arrogance that is celebrated by our youth IE: a pimp is a dispicable person with no real talents and yet every "little boy" wants to be one.
There once was a time when you could never get away with calling a women a b-tch, she would beat your azz herself, now women have lost so much respect for themselves, they are striving to become b-tches and hoes.
Fathers are few and far between, there are only guys who answer to the title "my baby daddy".
It is not noble any longer to be a gentleman, we solute no talent rappers who end up dead or in jail,and though it is not entirely a black issue, becouse little white boys are trying so hard to be black nowadays,but when a black man strives to do well and work hard he is considered a sell out.
To some people this is just another generation gap but if you look at the damage that is happening in our world you will see it is evil.

I think that all human beings are capable of performing thoughtless and harmful actions that are painful to others or to themselves -- which is one of the most common working definitions of the word "evil". Some people are more thoughtless, have less compassion, and/or are more selfish than others, so overall evil in this sense can be more present in some individuals than in others.

The culture in a region can promote evil in this sense, or a particular organization can have policies that are by this definition evil.

I think that anger, fear, demonization of the "enemy" and lack of compassion are conditions that cause evil to flourish.

Ok evil flourishes because we let it. See God gave us one of the most wonderful gifts and that is the ablity to choose for our selves. To be able to choose weither or not we want something in our lives. Hitler chose to do those horrible things and yes we are all capable of doing horrible things to people. Yes churches or other places can be evil if they choose to let that evil in.

Evil is not a "thing" - like a rock or electricity. You can't have a jar of evil! Rather, evil is something that occurs, like running. Evil has no existence of its own - it is really a lack in a good thing. For example, holes are real but they only exist in something else. We call the absence of dirt a hole - but it cannot be separated from the dirt.

Perhaps a further illustration will help. If I were to ask the average person "does cold exist?" - his/her answer would likely be yes. However, this is incorrect. Cold does not exist. Cold is the absence of heat. Similarly, darkness does not exist. Darkness is the absence of light. Similarly, evil is the absence of good, or better, evil is the absence of God. God did not have to create evil, but rather only allow for the absence of good.

All your questions... re: people, towns, locations, churches, whatever... can be "evil" if they lack "goodness"... or God. The ONLY "circumstance" that needs to exist for evil to exist is there to be a lack of God/goodness.

Evil is an aspect of mind, the nature is suffering, imperminance, greed, anger and delusion.

Anything can be evil, and anything can be falsely called evil, as pretty much everyone suffers from greed, anger and delusion.
